Part 2

First, let me talk about what happened when I arrived at Duncan’s house. (By the way, the meeting was from 3 PM - 6:30 PM ET, as Gage had negotiated for us to have 30 minutes more than last time.)
So, once I got to his apartment building with my mom, she told the guy at the desk we were here for a D&D club meeting in the third floor lounge (like last time). However, there was a party going on there, and the meeting had been moved to Duncan’s apartment. Gage was also running late because the train was slow. Me and my mom were outside Duncan’s apartment, and Gage walked up behind us. We all went in and found Duncan and Julia already here. Gage basically kicked us out of the living room so he could set up the game, so Duncan showed me and Julia his room. Grayson soon arrived, and Isaac came a little bit later. As usual, he wore shorts (in the frickin’ winter!). Also, I brought my own set of dice this time, which I got at Forbidden Planet a few years ago. I sadly couldn’t find my lucky d20 die.

Cast (going clockwise from the head of the table near the window)
Gage - Dungeon Master
Julia - Blaze (Ranger)
Grayson - Ash (Aasimar)
Me (Gaél) - Dragus (Dragonborn)
Duncan - Knox/Silverwing (Changeling Druid)
Isaac - Henry (I believe he was part orc)

When using their real names, I’m talking about the real person, but when using their character names, I’m talking about the lore/game.

First, Duncan began the session by playing our new “theme song,” the intro for The Owl House. Then, the game began and Gage recapped us in the situation. We were in the dungeon. An orc was blocking the hallway, severely wounded. We weee all in the main room, ahead of the arrow traps in the wall, save for me, who was behind them, closer to the door. The hallway head to a small area, which gave way to a rickety rope bridge above a deep chasm (with a river at the bottom), and on the other side was two orcs, an axe-wielding ogre, and his pet wolf,

So, first Ash snuck up on the wounded orc and stabbed him in the back with his dagger, killing him. Ash, Blaze, Knox (now going by Silverwing), and Henry went into the next room, and began battling the orcs guarding the ogre, which were crossing the bridge. During this battle, I came into the hallway and fired on an orc with the Firebolt spell, getting my first, (orc points) “Kill the mage.” Silverwing summoned a moonbeam that, over the course of the session, moved between different orcs and the ogre, damaging them. Blaze also cast Hunter’s Mark on an orc. Two more orcs came out through a hidden door in the side of the wall, to the left of us. During this, Duncan remembered to get his lucky displacer beast plush. Henry’s strength came in handy a lot during the battle, but it didn’t help Ash, who found himself severely wounded by an orc and lying in a corner, all bloody and everything.

Luckily, Grayson rolled good numbers (Gage had bad luck rolls this session) and was able to heal himself a bit, sprouting wind and rising up as a glowing being, flying over all of us (me included) and hovering over the chasm to fire on the orc. However, he was hit by a javelin and fell into the chasm, landing in the river. We assumed he was dead. Then, an orc priestess emerged from a room on the other side of the bridge that had been illuminated by a missed Firebolt (the first one I fired during the session) I fired earlier. During the battle, I continued to cast Firebolts on my turns to damage the orcs, and eventually switched to Magic Missile spells, starting by firing at the ogre. Silverwing also moved his moonbeam to ogre orc, and that’s when Gage said, “This moonbeam is the death of me.”

Anyways, Blaze and Silverwing jumped down to help Ash because they noticed a faint glow coming from the chasm. (Silverwing didn’t have a very graceful landing, because Duncan has bad d20 luck.) So, while they were down there, they ran into a group of troglodytes (which Gage calls “trogs” for short). The trogs smelled foul, but the Blaze, Silverwing, and Ash managed to get away. I forgot how, but Ash healed a bit and tried to pull Blaze and Silverwing out. Blaze’s pet bird pulled her out, but Silverwing, who was still wet from the landing in the river and was much heavier, realized he could shapeshifter and transformed into a mouse, and Ash pulled him out.

When they got out, they aided us in the fight. Silverwing, still a mouse, hid and we all watched as the orc priestess made Blaze grovel. However, I fired on her on my turn using Magic Missile, and she gave me my third, (points finger) “Kill the mage.” (By the way, the second I got from another orc I shot.) A spear hits me in the chest, lowering my health from 20 (my max health) down to 3, because the spear dealt 17 hit points. I nearly died, and a Henry was also wounded. He wanted me to use my smith’s tools to shape the orc armor into armor for him, but on my turn I healed myself, and learned my alignment: neutral, because I do a lot of things for myself, now that I think about it. I didn’t give my healing potion to someone else, and instead used it for myself, for instance. The potion brought my health up to 18, and Henry was ok. The ogre was killed, and the priestess led her orcs in a retreat back into the depths of the dungeon, and by then the session was over.

We all advanced from level 3 to 4, and my “homework” is to work with Duncan to find two new spells for me to use. (Also, my max health increased from 20 to 26.)

So, yeah, that was session 2.
