Last week I made a theory, basically saying that Notch had terrible parents. Needless to say it did not do well in the ratings. So this week I am going to do a theory that’s less personal. I want to prove that the floating islands of dirt coming off of a cliff are actually possible.
Bioshock: Infinite
Before stepping into the world of Minecraft I’d like to talk about this game. In Bioshock: Infinite, you are brought to the magical floating city of Columbia. When you reach the city you are given the description that Columbia uses quantum particles to stay afloat. Basically the city is suspended in space time at a fixed height. How does it do this you may ask? Through an object known as a Superconductor. Watch this video:
As you can see the freezing of the superconductor will actually cause the disc to levitate. Or rather, not fall. It’s a confusing term, but you only need to know that the disc floats.

Now that you know about Quantum Levitation you might be able to guess what I’m getting at with this theory. I’m not saying that this is why there are floating islands; however, I AM saying that the floating islands are not exactly impossible. Think about it! Perhaps the islands are covered in liquid nitrogen. All you would need then is magnets. The magnets could be hidden, it’s not likely, but it’s possible. Perhaps the ground itself is magnetic and is suspending these islands in the air. I like the idea and I’m sure other people might as well.
