Hello one and all! I am Diamonddozen and this is Diamond Blog: Doing things the WRITE way (man I've missed saying that)!

As you may know, I have not written a blog for over a year. That's intense, considering that I attempted to make a comeback already with the whole Craft Theory, Vs, and My First Thoughts thing. I have recently decided that, because of my grade 11 year starting Tuesday, September 1st, 2014, that I should try to stage yet another comeback. The main reason for this is that I will very likely not have the time to do any blogging while in college. So here's to a hopefully two great years!

My comeback blog is actually more or less an application for the blogging group: BOMB. I watched the Marvel movie: Ant-Man in theatres a couple of weeks ago and I wanted to post a review anyway, so this just gives me more motivation to do so. Let's begin, shall we?
Initial Thoughts
I can honestly say that if there was no mention of Marvel in this movie I would still make the assumption it was a Marvel movie. Everything is there: the attempt (not necessarily a bad one) at humour, the Stan Lee cameo, the super heroes, the hot girl that we all know will eventually fall in love with the main character (perhaps I should have put that in a spoiler), etc. I'm not saying I didn't like, but I'm not saying I was a huge fan (which completely contradicts the ending of this review).

Story
The story was...there. Essentially, the founder of a huge technology lab was forced out by his protege, the protege uses the founder's studies to build a better version of what the founder made, the protege is actually evil, the founder finds an ex-convict to help him with saving the world. Personally, I feel like this is a story that has been told before, but it was done very well.

Humour
As I said before, there was an attempt at humour. Michael Pena played the perfect comic relief, and let's be honest...that's all he was there for. Again, this is a major trait of any Marvel movie, but I've already touched on that. Although I believe this is an overused way of doing things, I will admit that I laughed a lot. The Stan Lee cameo was perfectly timed, along with the rest of the humour, really.

Overall Thoughts
My name is Diamonddozen, so a Diamonddozen review can't be out of five or ten, it has to be out of a dozen. So on a scale of 1-12 I give this movie a very solid 8 out of 12. The Marvel fanboys/girls may not think that this rating is high enough, and honestly I believe that the rating is a bit harsh myself. However, I do have a reason for it. Obviously there are the many cliches, but that only takes away half a point at most. My main problem is all the inconsistencies. I am going to place this next part in a spoiler, so if you are actually wanting to watch the movie please do not open it.
Inconsistencies
In the movie, Dr. Pym (I'm going to assume you know who this is, because you opened the spoiler) explains that the belt should never be tampered with, because you will enter a quantum space in which time and space seize to exist. Scott Lang tampered with the belt and went into this quantum space. Somehow he managed to stick a growing disk in the belt. How in the world did he do this? If space doesn't exist, then the disk has no atoms, the belt has no atoms, Scott has no atoms, there are no atoms to put anywhere. There is no possible way that the disk could be put in the belt. That's my rant for the day.
That was just one example. If you watch the movie, I'm sure you could find more. Nonetheless, I d give the movie 8 points, because it was a freaking awesome movie. You're not going to hear me say that about many non-comedic movies. So let that be a treat.

Thank you for viewing! Please don't forget to diamond and favourite this here blog, subscribe to me, and beg the members at BOMB to allow me the pleasure of joining their forces. Diamonddozen...is out.
