Hey Everyone! 2012Commander here, and this is my skin entry for the Depth of the Nether Skin Contest! make sure to diamond the skin if you really like it!

Day 1:
Hello! My name is Villis, and I'm an archeologist studying the history of the long extinct Builder Civilization. You probably already know about The Builders; the ones who built those enigmatic temples, mineshafts, and monuments randomly dotting the landscape? I believe I have found a new lead as to where some of them might've escaped after the Wither Cataclysm. It is a fabled pocket dimension called by the Builders "The Nether", a supposed realm of Fire and Brimstone akin to Hell itself. I have learned this through ancient writing in some books found in a Desert Temple, which came along with a set of instructions on making a portal! If I can find enough Obsidian, I believe I can reconstruct it.

Day 5:
Eureka! I have successfully made the Portal! I will send one of my village's sheep through the portal as a test subject. I have already secured a specimen from Benedict. The subject will be tied to a fence on our side and pushed across. I will wait 3 days and then pull it back through. I will report my findings next.

Day 7:
We have a problem. Apollos complained to the Cleric about an unknown animal burning down his storehouse. I'm afraid something came through the portal. Tomorrow is the day I will bring the sheep back, and now the Cleric has assigned our Iron Golem to guard the portal. I hope the sheep is alright.

Day 8:
Everyone was watching when we brought the sheep back through, or what was left of it. I don't think anyone is going to volunteer to go through the portal, so i must do it myself. I had to pay Benedict 10 Emeralds for the sheep. I'm going to go in once I'm done writing this page

Day 9:
This place is quite amazing! It's hot and dangerous, but the local flora and fauna are very intriguing! I will document all that I can in full detail in the back of this book. I have discovered docile and intelligent pig-like humanoids. They live a Hunter-Gatherer lifestyle and live in packs of up to 20. I made contact with one such "tribe" and met their leader named "Me'kel". He speaks a disfigured form of the Builder's language (which I can't understand), so he wrote down what he wanted to say. I call these people "Zombie Pigmen" based on their semi-decayed appearance.

Day 14:
After spending 5 days with the Pigmen, i have come to learn more about this dimension. Me'kel told me that the Builders are reminiscent of the deities of their religion. they believe that the deities they call "Masters" had to leave their home in paradise because of the "Great Evil". this confirms my belief that the Pigmen are humanoid descendants of the Pigs of our world, or at least an older species. the Builders who made their exodus here took their pigs with them, and they evolved over time. I wonder what happened to the Builders...

Day 15:
I have decided to look for the Builders' descendants. With a wave and a parting gift of 3 Emeralds, I left Me'kel and his Tribe. I then found a "Nether Fortress" as they are called by the Pigmen and followed it until I came across a map. It showed a path that led 4km northeast towards what looked like a forest. I had never come across a forest, and Me'kel didn't say anything about it. The hike will take me a few days.

Day 18:
I found it! A village that is made out of Nether Brick! I see the inhabitants, and they look like Builders, but different... more like the denizens of this dimension. I'm assuming that their skin is tanned from the heat. I'm going to try and make contac....
(the page is burnt off at this point. Villis the Archeologist was never found. The village he lived in sent a rescue party which returned empty handed. The cleric ordered the portal destroyed and banned the creation of a new one.)
