Lore: Following World War 1, the post-war boom gave rise to many powerful ocean liners as countries scrambled to replace ships lost during the war. One of the ships built during this time was RMS Leviathan, owned by the White Star Line.

After her maiden voyage in July of 1921, she quickly became one of the most popular ships for transatlantic crossings. She continued serving as a passenger liner for many years, even during the outbreak of World War 2.

Around midnight on January 5th 1940, Leviathan was hit head-on by a 90 foot rogue wave. The wave greatly weakened the ship’s hull, leading to water entering the first 2 of her 5 watertight compartments.

The ship quickly began to sink. Her captain ordered a distress call sent out and the lifeboats prepared. The ship’s 6 lifeboats could only carry around 390 people, a little over half of the ship’s population of 600.

At 12:30 am, a mere half hour after the impact, the ship’s 4 boilers began to explode in a chain reaction as the hot furnaces met cold seawater. The ship lost steam pressure quickly, leading to an immediate loss of power.

Without power, the lights went out, plunging the ship in darkness. Leviathan’s stern slowly rose into the air. Her captain remained on the bridge until the end. He went down with the ship.

At 1:00 am, only an hour after the impact with the wave, the ship gave a violent shudder before her stern rose vertically and plunged into the sea.

In total, 210 people were lost that night, many succumbing to hypothermia from the freezing Atlantic. By morning, only 390 of the ship’s population of 600 were still alive. Rescue ships soon arrived on the scene and began rescuing survivors.

This is for Java version 1.21.4
Note: When you download the world, the file is named RMS Krinross. That was the original name of the world and ship. I changed the name to Leviathan.
