After about two years, I decided to come back with the PS Connaught of 1860! She was a 360 foot long paddle steamer that functioned as an ocean liner and a mail steamer for the Atlantic Royal Mail Steam Navigation Company operating out of Ireland. She had three other sisters of her class, the Leinster, Munster, and Ulster all built from 1860, and all which continued to operate until the turn of the century. Connaught was especially luxurious for her day but she sank off Boston following her second voyage, leading to comparisons with the Titanic. Miraculously, all 591 passengers and crew survived as a nearby fruit trading vessel managed to cram everyone on board and sail back to Boston.
This build was created and overlaid from the plans found "Holyhead Royal Irish Mail" in the book A Modern System of Naval Architecture by J Scott Russel. I intend to finish the full interior and potentially release a version without sail. Will try to make renders when Chunky updates for Mac.
