Featured, are two 'typical' Anglo-Saxon Sunken Featured Buildings (SFB's) from circa 410 A.D. up until the Norman Conquest in 1066 A.D.
These are a couple of many builds which will form part of a larger project I am heading up, working on alongside Dwarfsosi, Creativname and Nekso. Our goal is to recreate an accurate, well-scaled, and atmospheric Wintanceaster (Winchester) circa 927 A.D. I'll be posting updates on the project and builds from within, so subscribe and keep your eyes peeled!

Brief Historical Summary of the Sunken Featured Building (SFB):
As well as longhouses, the Anglo-Saxons are also known to have constructed Sunken Featured Buildings (SFB's) within their villages.
SFB's were built in a shallow rectangular pit that varied in depth, and within this pit, two to six substantial wooden posts were placed at either end of the long axis to support the roof, which was usually made of thatch and sometimes wooden shingles. It is theorised that these buildings had only one entrance at one end and featured no windows.
The term Sunken Featured Buildings (SFB) comes from medieval archaeologists and the buildings' disputed use, with some believing they were used as dwellings, and others claiming they were used to store food or even for specific professions. Therefore, it was decided that using the term Sunken Featured Building (SFB) was more generalised and did not specify what the building was used for.
Bonus fact!
An SFB is known as a Grubenhäus (dug house) in Germany, and this German word is where other terms such as grub-huts or grub-house come from.
