How to install Minecraft Data Packs

This datapack allows your pets (Wolves and Cats) to respawn after death! For a pet to respawn after death, you need to sleep in a bed, or die yourself. Pets can only respawn 10 minutes after they have died.

-Allows tamed pets to respawn

-A message and particles will be shown and a sound will be played when your pet respawns

-Custom /trigger petrespawninfo for information about the datapack

This took me while so I hope you all enjoy it!
There isn't any images because there is not really much to show.

Pets now respawn after falling into the void

Dimensions no longer break

Parrots have been removed (they would duplicate on going onto your shoulder, as they are no longer entities at that point) due to a bug.

Wolves and cats no longer duplicate.

Tested this out thoroughly on some new worlds first and it works great! It also works if you exit Minecraft before the pet respawns, and on LAN multiplayer (including if the pet is killed by another player when you're offline). Although I did need to extract the data pack for it to be picked up by the game. Anyone else using this can test if the data pack is active in their world by pressing ESC, Open to LAN, set cheats to 'enabled', open to LAN, and then go back to your game and type the command /datapack list and make sure it shows up before going and getting your pet killed on an adventure. Anyway, awesome datapack! I'll be using this on all my survival worlds from now on :D

Hey! If you are going yo be using to a lot, I just want to mention a few issues I have found with it so far. The main issue is duplicating pets that are riding other entities. Due to the way passengers in Minecraft work, this means that it is no longer classified as an entity and will respawn at the next opportunity. I am planning on reworking this pack the future to use a new system (the death time nbt tag) which should fix the issue.

It's really annoying that mobs fights back and killing Players' pets! Which is cheating and not nice to kill Players' pets!(BLAME MOJANG!!!!!!)

Iron golems also shouldn't be killing pets also! Because I hate it when they kills Players and their pets!(BLAME MOJANG!!!!!!!)

Especially creepers that they don't care about anything and don't care about the Players' pets that are nearby!(WHICH IS CHEATING!!!!!! BLAME MOJANG!!!!!!)

at the very least pets should be affected by beacons so you can give your dog res 2

Well it doesn’t matter with this pack because wolves and cats respawn after death.

Installed this on my server and it nearly exploded lol

I had a parrot pet, when I slept it "respawned" despite being alive so it duplicated, but I didn't think it was a big deal.

But then the two parrots died, and next time I slept it literally spawned around 1000 parrots (used a command to kill specific mobs in a radius and it showed 958 entities killed, and a lot of parrots died of suffocation previously)

Love the concept but would install it again only when it's fixed 😅

Datapack is now fixed - however parrots don't work because they are not counted as entities when on a players shoulder, so they are thought to be dead.
