!!!IMPORTANT!!!
For the most part, I won't be returning for a very long time to this map. Slowly, I'm losing my free time. I'm about to get a job, am in college, and may leave for college within the next few months. So, as far as this project goes, it's on hold. I never wanted to abandon it, but as far as I'm concerned, my progession in life comes first. I am willing, though, to pass this onto another who would like to update it. If you are willing to take on a major task, just message me on PMC, and we'll work some stuff out. I hope you all understand that this project has gotten too big for just me to handle by myself with the little free time I have. I'm sorry. 0.7.0 is the last update I will do to this map for a long time, or the very last update I will do if someone else continues to update it. Thank you for the support, and I'm sad to leave. I will though still be around. I still have my survival map, which is enough for me to handle by myself. But anyways, I will miss this map. It was a fun ride, and I'm glad to have taken it.

BACKSTORY

Far away, in a distant land, there lies a kingdom of great power.
Archimedes Hold. It is the capitol of Wintercast, a great land with prosperous cities and people. But Wintercast is in trouble, it is on the brink of civil war, and Archimedes Hold is right in the middle of it. The time will come, when a great war will consume all of Wintercast.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Wintercast - Archimedes Hold is a future adventure map on a massive scale. The castle itself is almost two years old now, while most else is over one year old. I built the castle as a fun thing for me to do one day, and I kep expanding, to where I made a massive landscape map designed for the castle.Now, this map has turned into something huge. It is still in heavy developement, so many things remain unfinished, are in early developement.

MAP FEATURES

- 3 Main land masses, the smallest being over 1,000x1,000 blocks in size.
- Multiple towns across the lands, many still being built.
- A basic teleportation system for quick traveling.
- Teleportation aside, a massive open world.
- A store system. (In heavy developement.)
- Many side activities.

MAP USAGE

I'm very glad to let you use this map as a server map, as long as you ask first, and give me proper credit if you are to do so. Also, please don't upload this map anywhere else under your name.

CITY:
-Added church on the sort of west side
-Extremely naturized the area
-Added a farm on the outer west side

CASTLE:
-Major design changes
a)The floor is now wood via the connected textures in the recourse pack
b)The walls are different as well
-Fixed the command blocks at the front door
-Furnished the two bedroom

LANDSCAPE:
-Smoothed out the front landscape
-Added lamps along the outer path around the hold

NATURE:
-Went bat-shit insane with the new flowers and bushes
-Double-Tall grass is pretty much everywhere
-Used the new flowers in front of the castle

MISC.:
-General fixes and improvements

NOTABLE PROBLEMS:
-The castle and much of the hold is part of a mountain biome. After the 1.7 update, mountains biomes have snow in them. So right now, there will be snow within the hold. I am working through this.
-If you dig into the new landscaping, you will fall into pretty much a giant hole. I will not be filling those in, too much work. It's just noteworthy.

UPCOMING FEATURES:
-More landscape improvements
-Improvements on the new buildings
-More nature
-Changing the biome data within the hold so it doesn't snow in it.

PLANNED FEATURES:
-Many new buildings
-Docks along with boats
-Finished landscaping

NOTES:
-I plan on reaching far out past the hold and deep into the landscape. With that I would hopefully be able to convert this map into an adventure map. Someday...

CITY:
-Brand new Docks district
-Begun construction on a new castle/mansion located in the docks district
-Added a wall separating the docks and the main city
-Added a farm in front of the Docks-City gate
-General improvement and interior decoration
-Improved Landscaping
-Added a second mine on the east side

CASTLE:
-Improvement on the interior decoration
-General changes

DOCKS DISTRICT:
-Added them
-Consists of a small dock with a boat, a castle/mansion on a nearby hill, an Easter Egg, and a few buildings

LANDSCAPE:
-Instead of evening it out on the west side, I have added a wall, only for time sake
-On the east side, the mountain currently looks very, VERY weird. That will be fixed in due time, or be used to some advantage
-Added some trees here and there, just to add some nature
-General additions and improvements

FARMS:
-Added a new farm on the south side, which is a copy of the farm on the east side
-Added a wheat field to the south side farm, and a carrot and tomato garden
-New wind mill along with the south side farm
-New horse stables located by the south side farm

MISC:
-Added villagers in the shops so you can buy things from them

NOTABLE PROBLEMS:
-There is still snow falling in the city. I'm working very hard to fix this, but it may take a while
-Depending on your computer, activating the Easter Egg by the docks could cause your game to crash. !!!MAYBE!!!

-Finishing the unfinished buildings in the Docks District
-More building in the Docks District

CITY:
-Major expanding apon the city
-Added a new district west of Archimedes Hold, essentially, it's the poor-er side of town
-Replaced many of the flowers in the city with oak wood leeves, just to add "character"
-Expanded the docks district with the intenstion of it being the richer side of town
-Major decorationings in the docks district
-I have begun work on a new city/town far west of Archimedes Hold named RiverRun
-Attempted to add a sewer system, but things went wierd.
-General improvements

CASTLE:
-Reworked the second flight of stairs, as well as the room it leads to
-Completely emptied the castle of all decor. I plan to completely revamp the castle

LANDSCAPE:
-Begun smoothing out the mountain on the east side that the castle sits on
-General Improvements

TOWNS/AREAS:
-Have begun work on a few new towns/areas located throughout Wintercast
-The most prominant is RuverRun located to the west of Archimedes Hold
-A new area is the Temple of Kings, located far south of Archimedes Hold
-In Tarendale, the Island, I have begun adding various things to make the place more "alive"

MECHANICS:
-Implimented a teleportation system for faster traveling
-The system consists of four locations, Archimedes Hold, RiverRun, Temple of Kings, and the Spawn location for the story

STORY:
-Have officially begun working on a story for this map
-I have made the spawn for when you begin, as well as made three different characters
-I have chosen the starting locations for all three characters, and basic background stories

NOTABLE PROBLEMS:
-It's STILL SNOWING in parts of Archimedes Hold
-The second castle in the docks districts is still incomplete
-A wierd and uncomplete sewer system that may go abandoned

UPCOMING FEATURES:
-Smoothing of the mountain on the east side
-More work on the story
-More redesigning within the castle

It's been a long time since I've had a major update for this map. Unfortunately, this isn't a very big update, but it introduces a lot of new features that I plan to use in the future.

Buildings:
-I have added a new building style that is, in a way, universal. I'm going to say U-Buildings whenever I talk about it. It fits almost anywhere, is easy to build, and is highly customizable. I've so far added it in Archimedes Hold and RiverRun.

Gameplay:
-This is in very early development, but I've added a JOB system. I've only set up two jobs, and the villager shops. I plan to add more. Right now, the only jobs are Miner and Farmer.

-I have added a "Natural" border around Archimedes Hold and RiverRun. I have done this in efforts to establish the bounderies of where the gameplay(Adventure, should I get to it) will take place. I still want this map to be open world, but this does limit it greatly.

Travel:
-On the WEST side of Archimedes Hold, you will find a gate. That gate, when entered, will teleport you to RiverRun. There is a gate there, but it still needs working on. It's works, but it teleports you to a different location.

MISC:
-Most flowers in the map have been changed to leave blocks, in efforts to make the map more natural and rouged.

NOTES:
-I am making an effort to ustalize more of the advanced textures in the texture pack. So when using it, pleace be sure to have MCPATCHER or OPTIFINE installed.

NEXT UPDATE:
-More U-Buildings
-More work on the JOB system
-Advancements on the travel system
-More interior re-working on the castle
-Working gates using the new command system
-A revamped shop system(?)

Anotehr new update is here. And this time, there's more features than last time, along with a new travelling system and general advancements.

Buildings:
-The new U-Buildings I introduced in the last update have been dotted all over Archimedes Hold. And they fit perfectly. There are three "neighborhoods" in Archimedes Hold. One by the enterance to the docks, one by the south entereance to the castle, and one by the NEW MARKETPLACE.

-That brings me to my next addition, the market place. It's not much, and only has a few stalls, but I plan to make it more usefull in later updates.

Gameplay:
- I have improved the natural borders around Archimedes Hold, and have added some to RiverRun and Temple of Kings.

-The spawn has been completely overhauled. When you spawn in the game, you now spawn in a room, that leads to a hall. Just follow the intructions, and you will be fine. I don't wan to spoil anything.

-I have made some progress on the JOB system. It's still in very early development, but it's coming along.

-A new system in the map has been added. There are now HOMES!!! Or will be. I've established three different locations, and plan to add the ability to select which home you can own in the spawn area.

Travel:
-I have totally revamped the travel system. What you do now is go to the docks, enter the boat's lower deck, and you we teleported to a ship out at sea. There, you will be able to select where you can travel.

-The travel gate to RiverRun is still active. I have fixed it so it takes you to the enterance gate in RiverRun.

MISC:
-I have removed all spruce trees by the castle and in the town, and have added bigger, and nicer trees.

-I have also removed most double tall grass on the map.

-I have smoothed out, or made them look better, the mountains on the edge of Archimedes Hold.

-General Changes and Improvements.

NOTES:
-Updating this map has become more hard for me to do. I'm currently in college. So that's a biggie. When i'm done, I plan to get a job, so that's another thing. So, updates aren't coming as often as I'd like, but don't fret, they'll still come.

-A lot of the u-buildings don't have chimneys. That'll be fixed later.

-Finishing the marketplace
-Advancements on the HOME and JOB systems

This is the last Update to Wintercast: Archimedes Hold that I will be doing for a very long time, if not the last.

There's so much to list within this update, I've actually forgotten some of the things in it. It was originally supposed to be a landscape/nature overhaul.

Originally, the landscapes of the whole islands were going to be very different. I will include download links for each of them. They are very unfinished though, so play at your own risk.

WINTERCAST - WHOLE MAP THINGS
The stuff in the spoiler below is all the things I could gather together for, what was eventually going to be, the massive map of Wintercast. If you do basic maths, with a lot of guessing involded, the whole map of Wintercast would've come close to, or maybe even have been bigger, than 100,000x100,000 blocks.

Its a custom modpack just on our server. Most noticeable difference is Traincraft, its very uncommon afaik. Apart from that we have mostly the general mods included, IC2(exp), Mekanism, Buildcraft, Railcraft, Forestry and some smaller.

The general idea was to create a world focussing on Railroads and"Industry roleplay".
