Medieval Ship | Venetian Carrack "Marmara"
Another 15th to 16th Century Carrack, this time slightly smaller. The extremly heightened bow made these ships better suited for rough seas than e.g. the galleys commonly used in the mediterranean during this period.

"As the large ship slowly turns its bow westward, filling the main sails with a strong wind, the sailors take a last look back at their home. Oh, San Velano, city of palaces, full of life in the day, dark and mysterious at night, when the fogs start creeping through your alleys and canals. They know, after all, whatever hardships are waiting on their way, when they return the azure and white banner will still be flying over the doge's palace while a great feast awaits them and their gained riches..."
~ a San Velanese poet, CCA. 1301
