I made these buildings for McEdit but I didn't know how to make a schematic for McEdit. If I do make some I will put them in download file.

Two major problems seem to arise: block choice and depth. There seems to be too many detail blocks like chiseled sandstone. Try to limit those, since they distract from the rest of the build. Also, oak can be replaced by acacia, due to the arid theme, but red sandstone is a little too rare for an average desert. The stone slabs are also a problem as they don't match the desert theme, but you can fix that with my next topic: depth. One block out from the corners (which are now normal sandstone), you can place sandstone or log pillars connected by one vertex to the rest of the building. If you do this on the top corners as well, you can avoid the clash that smooth stone slabs have. The window and door positioning needs a bit of reworking as well. Some of the windows are right next to doors, which is a bit of an awkward situation. Separate them with full blocks, and you'll be able to add another layer of depth by replacing the trapdoors with fences. Also, some awnings over windows and doors (just trapdoors on the bottom of the block above) can add even further detail. Finally, for your fire pits and braziers (which is a nice touch considering deserts get pretty cold at night), you can replace ugly netherrack with magma blocks, which not only keep fire burning forever, but also have a small, warm lighting effect when the fire is snuffed out.
