At the end of 2022 I made an adventure map for two of my friends to play through. I won’t upload it was a personal gift, but I will describe the games I created!



CLASSICS

First they competed in parkour, a piston maze, and snow parkour (where most of the blocks are powdered snow) to see who would get there fastest. This was the only competitive section, the rest of the games are meant to be cooperative.

RAVAGERS LABYRINTH

A labyrinth filled with Ravagers and Purple needs to find 6 different colored glass blocks and safely return them to the entrance so that Cyan can place them. Cyan has labeled maps and can view the labyrinth from above to help Purple.



BROKEN GRAPHICS CARD

A piston puzzle inside a recreation of Cyan’s PC with the aim of moving both of the gold blocks to the tinted glass in the center. Cyan can see the whole puzzle, but only Purple can actually press the buttons to use the pistons.



MINECEPTION

Purple’s in adventure mode inside a 1 block wide PC screen and tries to reach the nether portal with guidance from Cyan. The next tier of pickaxes (wood -> stone -> iron -> diamond) need to be obtained to be able to break the next group of blocks.



SNIPING/SORTING

Cyan has to match the outfits on display in front of the store with the items provided by Purple through his sniping ability. The items that rain down need to be caught before they drop into the hopper in the ground. More items, like arrows, can be sent up to Purple through the bubblevator in the store. All of this needs to happen while Cyan is being chased by zombie “panic buyers” as a nod to the pandemic.

Purple is asked 5 true or false trivia questions about Minecraft inside the classroom while Cyan is in an airplane with seemingly no survivable way out. The questions contain hints for what items Cyan should look for in the plane to craft a feather falling potion.


The Questions:

1. The longest full-block distance a player can fall and survive without any special modifications (such as armor or fall-damage reducing blocks) is 23 blocks. [True: Hint don’t fall out of the plane without a plan.]
2. In contrast to hay bales, which negate some damage, fall damage can be fully circumvented by landing on slime blocks, honey blocks or in water. [False: Honey doesn’t negate it fully. Hint: Look for honey bottle to turn into water bottle]
3. If one wanted to reduce their fall damage through the means of a potion you would need to start with a thick base from glowstone. [False: an awkward base is needed. A water bottle can be turned into an awkward potion by infusing a nether wart]
4. Chickens land softly, but do not fly. True or False, there are 5 mobs that can fly. [False: actually 10: Phantom, Bee, Ghast, Parrot, the ender dragon, wither, bat, blaze, vex, allay]
5. A slow falling potion requires an ingredient dropped by one of the flying mobs. [True: Hint is phantom membrane]

Purple and Cyan now find themselves both in locked off locations and need to find more items that they can use to create yet another feather falling potion. Cyan is in survival mode and Purple in adventure, so they will need to create a flying machine to exchange items to use properly.



MINIGAMES

Additionally, I created a Barrel Hunt in a separate area and Parkour trails to play as we waited for each other to join the server or took a break.
