Christmas: The entire western world celebrates this (Europe included). And even some non european/anglo countries celebrate this such as Japan, China, Israel, Argentina & Angola.

Birthday: Self explanatory.

Halloween: Most of the western world celebrates this

New Years: It might not be very important to the western world, but in Asia it's basically their version of Christmas although around 1 month after. They basically get as hyped up and decorative as the western world does for Christmas (my family celebrates both lol).

Thanksgiving: Is only a big public holiday in the USA and a select few countries (most countries that "celebrate" this dont consider it a public holiday e.g. UK, netherlands & the Phillipines).

I'm fine with all of them, but would be happy to see the commercial aspects vanish in each case.

[And birthdays should just be a note in passing amongst kith & kin.]

Unfortunately for you, the world revolves around money. Capitalistim will always abuse whatever it can.

Also for the 2nd point, that is subjective.

Everyone wants something a person of higher power uses. (e.g. fashion trends or technology etc).
Birthdays originated from Ancient Egyptians celebrating the the coronation or "birth" of a pharoah as a (little) god. It was then used to celebrate the birthday for the Emperor of Rome, before transforming into the birthday celebrations of the common folk later in the Roman Empire. This was the basis of the birthdays we celebrate today.

Fortunately for me capitalism is still very much in place [if unpleasantly diluted in all to many particulars]… (Paraphasing Winnie: Captitalism is the worse economic system ever, except all those other forms that have been tried from time to time.)

Nah Churchill's quote is just with democracy compared to other forms of government. Democracy is still the "best" because human greed cannot infiltrate it easily without tons of time and support.

Economic models are still being debated but im pretty sure capitalism with social safety nets (social democracy) is the currently best form of economic model for the financial wellbeing of the general populace. Unlike countries like the USA going to the far end of unfettered capitalism due to human greed.

Probably Halloween, its not directly a holiday here but depending on where u live its no school here.

What i don't like about it is the period before where every store tries to sell u halloween related stuff and even if its just tons of sweets or other stuff ..

As long civilisation or the holiday itself remains, so will this.
This exact same thing applies to other family celebrated public holidays such as Easter, Christmas and New Years (Asia)

As long as humans exist (which human greed will persist), holidays will always be milked

Bigot or not, capitalism will not like that.

Identity politics is still a major trend especially in USA, so why not make money out of the masses for it?
Ironically if the Republican party didnt focus on attacking LGBTQ people as one of their party's tenets pride month would not have persisted for long

"Identity politics is still a major trend especially in USA…"

And there's a problem…
Deciding how to treat people on the basis of how they look or what group they belong to is inherently unAmerican.
One of the points of the revolution was to do away with the concept of one's 'born betters' AKA the nobility.
Resurrecting the idea (whatever the defining criterion[ia]) steps back from the ideal of individual worth and dignity that the USA was meant to pursue.

[Also, if you're going to start throwing stone's at one political party, you ought get the glass out of your own house first.]

Im not American, so I'm just an observer, but I do understand that the democrats by themselves are pretty bad and inept (not as bad and malicious as the madhouse called the Republican Party).
A significant amount of people who hate pride month are bigots who discriminate people based on what their sexual identity is. There are still a lot of hate crimes committed against lgbtq people .
The interpretation of Individual worth will vary from person to person. The difference now is social media is a like a megaphone and is able to spread what your interpretation is to the world. Specifically for LBGTQ people, due to support online they feel more accepted and supported to let the world know of their specific interpretation, that they're gay etc
Ofc this applies on the other end for people who'd rather stay with the traditions they know.

America is a flawed democracy, with toppings of plutocracy; the nobility already partially controls the US (specifically rampant political lobbying and the extortion of servies like healthcare/insurance).

On a separate note, what do you think is the ideal individual worth and dignity the USA should pursue?

Its pretty much an American holiday (other countries only celebrate because of the harvest season, but halloween takes that mantle most of the time).
And not everyone lives in the USA

yes, but some people do put up graphic decorations as a direct result of the holiday... thus, some small children will be exposed to that stuff... Heck, I don't even like seeing that kind of stuff...
and as for still celebrating, there are many other things to celebrate... I dont know why halloween is the one that was chosen...
