With this datapack, you can make the sea breathe and generate waves on the water surface. They will be randomly generated only in the player vicinity, reducing lag while still keeping a realistic behavior.

The waves are not only visual, as you can interact with them and they can even leave a shell behind: there are three possible type of shells (by using the resource pack) and they will be removed either randomly by a wave or automatically after a while..

Installing the datapack is very easy and you can customize it to your preferences.

The function has all the instructions you need. To find it, open the datapack's folder, then open the folder data, then the folder waves, then the folder functions and there you will find the text files "tick_waves": open it and you will find all the instructions there. Be sure to read everything carefully!

Have fun!

The map on which I started developing the first version of the waves 7 years ago has been released! The map still has the commands blocks used for the original form of this datapack, so, if you're interested in seeing how it has changed over the years, you just need to play the map!

You could try, but it would be difficult to make it work for multiple people, so I don't know if it's worth the effort.

It should still work for 1.17 (with the proper setup).

Yes it works on 1.17.1, it looks really nice with shaders and a survival island. The only problem is that a lot of the waves happen to get stuck and because I play in survival, giving commands to unlock is not good, and sometimes it doesn't even work. would there be any way to fix the waves without giving the command?

I'm not sure I understand, but do you mean that you manually execute a command to spawn waves?

The datapacks works by spawning waves in an area you manually input inside the function during setup, either by choosing to spawn them around a circular island of in a linear shore, so they won't spawn automatically in any body of water, if that is what you're trying to do.

With the proper setup, waves shouldn't get stuck.

Awesome datapack! Great idea! I will use this for my map.

And I saw this datapack in your "Cow Detective" map ;)

Nice; happy to see that, for once, the map advertised the datapack and not vice-versa.
Good luck on your map!
