Firstly I'd just like to just welcome you to this blog! This is basically going to be my account on how my first week of being a server Owner is going!
I'd also like to apoligise for any little bits in brackets that don't really make all that much sense <3 xoxo
My experience with Minecraft servers as staff have been very interesting indeed, I had been a server admin on a few communities and the recent position I was in I left after over 2 years of being with that community. So I did have a basic knowledge of plugins in game and how to moderate appropriately, but I never really was given the chance to learn the more "Tech side" to servers, and so after not being able to explore that side I decided enough was enough and it was time to branch off into a new and better community with a few friends of mine, and thus this blog is born!
Technical Side to things:
After actually committing to this, the very lovely ProjectHyrule has helped tremendously, (Basically done most of the a heck of a lot of the work, ilu bby xoxo haha) in starting to teach the other two owners and I how to work with the console and config files and all that technical stuff, which currently I'm super intimidated of but at the same time it is a LOT more straight forward than I thought it would be.
Through this, just as a bit of advice we've basically figured out that in order to have everything top tip condition beta testing is key in figuring out what and how the plugins are configured, something we're still working on; but you know what they say! Practise makes perfect, and I know one of the server owners Nate, is up to his eye balls in trying to balance Mcmmo.
The difference between owner and admin is really dependant on how you run your server, but hey this is my blog, so here's my opinion on how I feel about this transition.
It goes without saying that I feel more in control of situations, I feel like I can help or will be able to help as soon as I acquire the knowledge, but coupled with this I can appreciate what goes into behind the scenes more.
It's also intimidating to me (Let's just forget that I'm very easily intimidated by everything), as
I've found that there's a certain level of expectancy from you as an owner, something in time I hope I can meet! But it's only my first week, I'm hoping to be able to contribute more to the Server in future.
How I feel about being an owner:
I have actually been enjoying myself so far, I have different attributes to offer to the server. Currently my server works as in having 4 owners (One of which is myself), so I suppose a lot of the pressure is spread out evenly between us.
I suppose the difference for me is simply that I can do more, there are times where I feel quite timid and feel I have to ask before I do anything because of 1, what I'm used to and 2, I'm scared I'll get something wrong, I've been told and I also have to keep telling myself, I AM AN OWNER, I can do stuff now.
Currently, my input has been into helping with buildings, I suppose a bit of the advertising too, but mostly I've been beta testing (By playing haha), Including this I've filmed and edited the server trailer,and doing a fair amount of graphics work on the forums for our server.

Like I've mentioned before, I'm still pretty new to this, I'm just hoping to grow in this and make sure that I can help make one of the best servers for people to play on :)
So far there's been a few things on our server that have made me laugh so far haha, here are a few examples:
So far there's been a fair few interesting builds on our server being made by staff... The "Teleporter" for some reason has a rainbow dash skin and yes that is a OTP sword and a duck dribbling lava.
On the more legit side we have this player called Locus and he's insane...
Not in a literal doolah lah sort of way but... Look how many animals he has... I'm surprised I don't lag out to heck here, it's not just that though... His set up is really good, maybe I'm impressed cause I'm a little bit of a noob but hey, I do have the top ranking in Mcmmo ;D... Dem flowers. (They have been nurfed since I levelled :<)
We have a player who has lost a bet and tomorrow will be putting on a gimp skin *Cough cough* Assassin and also most people on our server seem to be Dutch haha
So now as my first week comes to a close, I'm overall feeling exhilarated by this experience, meeting new people and making new friends on the server has been awesome!
Being a server owner does seem to include more responsibility than just being an admin, it's all exciting and new just now and I do wonder what next week will bring.
I also realise I'm just like rambled on and I've just danced around the subject a bit, I'm just excited and nervous haha!
