Hey guys, whats up olivermad speaking.
So today I am gonna teach (Don't take this offensively :P) Newbies out there who don't know how to install custom Minecraft maps that you've seen youtubers play, or that you found out about and seems cool, and you want to play them; But you don't know how. I'm here to try and explain as simply as I can how to do so. I recently just uploaded a custom map, that you may want to download.
1. The first thing you want to do is install WinRAR if you haven't already download it to fit your computer bit. (16 bit = 16 bit WinRAR, 32 bit = 32 bit WinRAR, etc)
2. After you download WinRAR, go to the map you wish to download from sources such as Planet Minecraft, Minercraft Forums, etc and somewhere there should be a link where the file is accessible for download.
3. Once downloaded, click drag the file onto your desktop.
4. Next, go to the start menu and type in: %appdata%
5. Once you do so, go into your roaming folder, then your .minecraft folder, and then into your saves folder.
6. Now go back to your desktop, and if the map you downloaded is not a WinRAR archive (You can tell if the image is not a pile of books) right click it and open it with WinRAR. If it is a WinRAR (pile of books image) just simply double click it.
7. Once it's open, you want to find the folder that has these files:
data
level.dat
region
There may be more, if that is the case its fine. So when you find that folder, make sure you drag the one that HAS THE CONTENTS. Not the contents itself. So for example I don't want to drag in
data
level.dat
region, etc
on their own, but the folder that has them
8. Finally, take the folder that has
data
level.dat
region, etc
and put it in your saves. I hope this helped!
