    Better Trees is a worldgen datapack/mod that reworks the way that overworld trees are shaped. It makes the vanilla biomes feel much bigger and more complex, and it works well with an overworld worldgen packs. Trees in this datapack are generally taller, and more complex looking than their vanilla counterparts, but still feel vanilla. Cutting one down will give you more wood and saplings.
    If cutting down the bigger trees is too hard, try timber datapack or FallingTree.

    It would be great if we could have spruce trees that grow their leaves all the way down; one of the most defining features about real coniferous forests is their branches come all the way down and making them difficult to get under! This modpack is good but missing that sense of bushwacking from spruce forests, hope you can improve it in the future!

    Hi there, I just want to say that this mod is really cool and I like the new style of the trees. My only complaint would be is that I can't configure this myself. As I like different sizes than the size the mod gives for the default. Also, I noticed that dark oak trees still need 2x2 saplings but it turns into a 1x1 dark oak tree and the other saplings don't disappear. 1.19.4 so far for me. I will be going to 1.20 as soon as 1.20.2 comes out. Thanks in advance for taking looking at my message.

    Datapack worldgen files can't be configured in-game, you will need to unzip the datapack/mod and modify the .json files. (and then re-zip it and rename it to a .jar if it's the mod version.)

    And the game isn't programmed to adjust the sapling amount required to grow the tree when the tree width changes, so dark oak trees will always need 2x2 saplings. This is a bug with Minecraft, not Better Trees.

    this is awesome. are you going to update it for the newer 1.2 in the near future?

    EDIT: i saw you already have a snapshot out or is it for the old version?

    Yes, will update it for 1.20



    The 1.20 version was made for one of the first 1.20 snapshots, but it should still work for newer versions (I haven't tested it). All it does is add cherry trees. The 1.19.4 version should also work in 1.20, but without better cherry trees.

    i want to be honest, that new feature that EVERY tree sapling now grows into those gigantic trees makes this datapack pretty bad

    either remove this new "feature" or make it so people can disable this annoying feature, thanks.

    ESPECIALLY because with it active, on crossplay bedrock players will see EVERY sapling as string
