New Entity Prototype: The Catamount
This is a neutral mob that can be tamed by feeding it raw meat or fish. Once tamed, it can be ridden (it uses the vanilla horse/donkey functionality) and can be healed/bred with raw or cooked meat or fish. Like the tamed wolf, it will attack any entity which damages its owner, and like the vanilla cat, it scares away creepers. Catamounts do not take fall damage, meaning they can jump from any height.
Wild Catamounts hunt goats. All variants reuse the cat sound effects, but at a lower pitch. When angry, they growl, using the wolf growl sound.
This entity now spawns naturally in mountainous biomes.
Fun Fact: I chose the name "Catamount" for the rideable cat entity since it looks like a portmanteu word combining "cat" and "mount," but it is actually an alternate name for the mountain lion or puma: https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/catamount. While the real animal isn't horse-sized and would definitely object to being ridden, it does meow and purr, just like a regular cat! Its light brown fur is the inspiration for the Minecraft entity's texture.
(This is still a work in progress!)
TODOs:
- Fix jerky walking animation Done
- Add attack animation
- Add more texture detail Done
- Implement spawn rules Done
- Baby version should not be rideable Done
- Add lead anchor point Done
- Should be able to sit, like cat & wolf [?]
- Different textures for different biomes?
- Should purr when fed?
Any suggestions for additions or improvements are welcome!

I just re-downloaded this pack today and have confirmed it still works in the latest Bedrock version. It just takes some extra steps to set up:
First, find the folder on your computer where Minecraft data is stored -- there are instructions here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/minecraft/creator/documents/gettingstarted?view=minecraft-bedrock-stable&tabs=Windows10
Once you have located the development_resource_packs and development_behavior_packs folders, then:
--Extract the .zip file you've downloaded from this page (right click, then select "Extract All" from the pop-up menu)
--Drag and drop the meow_BP folder to Minecraft's development_behavior_packs folder
--Drag and drop the meow_RP folder to the development_resource_packs folder
Then, when you launch Minecraft, the pack should be available to select from. If you activate the behavior pack for a world, the resource pack will be automatically activated as a dependency.
The Catamount uses a custom entity model. If Java ever adds the ability to use these, I'll make a Java Catamount data pack too.
