snouts! modifies some of minecraft's mob models and textures, primarily to look more like their real-world counterparts, or to look like other real-world animals.

snouts! is presently is in its alpha stage, meaning many features are undeveloped. that said, it currently has multiple custom textures and models, all drawn and animated by hand.

current features
- changes hoglin texture to be furred and more colorful
- completely new model for the maned wolf, replacing regular wolves
- completely new model for peacocks, replacing chickens
priority planned features
- hen texture for peafowl
- add collar on tamed wolves
- tweak animations
- restrict alternate models to spawning in specific biomes
future features
- more mob variants
- fox -> tanuki, raccoon, stoat
- wolf -> dhole
- cow -> bison, deer
- (feel free to suggest more!)
- make basic models match my style
- variant textures for model variants
- figure out how to add more animations
- see if i can add custom sound effects based on the species -- eg dhole whistling
- fabric parity
- datapack that modifies mob spawns so i can have More mob variants?
installation && compatability
YOU NEED OPTIFINE TO USE THIS MOD
fabric parity is planned, but not yet a reality.
1) install optifine
2) download snouts!
3) move snouts! to appdata/.minecraft,/resourcepacks
4) launch the game, and go to settings -> resource packs, and enable snouts!
this mod has only been tested for minecraft java 1.19.2, but should be backwards compatible. if you use it on another version, please let me know whether it works!
