Hyper realistic sky Minecraft Texture Pack

Hyper Realistic Sky is the biggest, most versatile and feature rich sky pack you will ever find out there. The pack has 6 unique cloud sets that will change depending on the biome you're in. There are also unique skies for weather, including rain and thunder, where you will usually see dense rain clouds, but also sandstorms, if you're in a desert for example. Each sky has a day, night, sunset and sunrise variant, as well as a low and high altitude variant, making it a total of 64 cloud variants. On top of that, this pack also features a plethora of special events, such as Solar eclipses, shooting stars, lightning strikes, and even spinning tornadoes. There are many special rare cloud types featured in the pack as well, such as asperitas and mammatus clouds.

As you can see, this a very large and ambitious project, and the best part is, it's all free! If you like what you see, and would like to support me, you can donate through PayPal. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated. Thank you!

    FYI and README
    • I created a survey for the pack, you can fill it out here. Thank you!
    • This pack is configured for FabricSkyBoxes and Optifine. Either of these mods is required!
    • To check out the many features of the pack, I've provided a text file in the pack that has instructions.
    • I also provided a text file with instructions on how to remove each feature from the pack, if you want to customize it.
    Fabric

If you are using Fabric, place the Fabric API- and the FabricSkyBoxes mods into your "mods" folder. Always make sure to use the latest versions of the mods. The pack itself works with FabricSkyBoxes as is, so you do not need to do any conversions. FSB interop is not required.

If- for whatever reason- you used the pack with Optifine before and enabled the animated textures, and now switching over to Fabric, and also using Animatica, you need to change the folder names back, or delete them outright, because it will tank your FPS.

    OptiFine

The animated textures will be disabled by default, because they are causing too much lag, and also interfering with some fabric modpacks. You can enable them by going to assets\minecraft\optifine/mcpatcher and moving the properties files you want to enable from the "anim_backup" folder to the "anim" folder. These will remain disbled for now, unless Optifine optimizes its animated textures.

The plan for the future is to discontinue support for Optifine, because it is the main bottleneck when developing new features for this pack. Hopefully an official Forge port of FabricskyBoxes will be released at some point, so Forge players won't be left out. Unofficial Forge ports of FabricskyBoxes are already available for some versions of the game, however I do not want to solely rely upon those.

    Shaders

This pack works with shaders for both OptiFine and Fabric. Fabric shaders require Iris and Sodium as well.

I will mention, this pack is primarily inteded to be used without shaders, so I don't develop the pack with shaders at the forefront of my attention. Shaders get updates all the time, settings change, and people prefer different looks. I will leave configuring your shader to work best with this pack up to you.
    Moon features
    Realistic 3D surface
The benefit of using 3D rendering software, is that the geometry of the surface of the Moon is clearly visible due to the lighting. I've not yet seen any pack doing this.
Hyper realistic sky Minecraft Texture Pack
    Blood Moon
Blood moon will happen weekly at night. This feature only works with fabric currently.
Hyper realistic sky Minecraft Texture Pack
    Blue Moon
Blue moon will happen once every Blue moon. This feature only works with fabric currently.

    Sky features
    Biome dependent clouds
    Unique clouds different biomes.
    (play video)

    Rain and Thunder clouds
    (play video)

    Lightning strikes
These will appear throughout the night when there is a thunderstorm.
    (play video)

    High altitude clouds
These will give you an "at the edge of space" experience if you go above Y=256. I recommend a render distance of about 8-10 for the best effect.
    (play video)

    Supercell
You'll see these in the distance in hot biomes from morning to early afternoon. Low and high altitude variants:

    Rainbow
These will appear after a weather event (rain or thunder). This feature only works with Fabric currently.

    Seasonal Sun path
Just like in real life, the Sun will orbit low in the sky during winter, and high during the summer. Since there are no seasons in Minecraft as of now, the seasons are somewhat arbitrary. The way it works now, is when you create a fresh world, it will treat it as January 1st, so the Sun will orbit at it's lowest path. During the next 365 days, the Sun's path will gradually rise and then fall back down, and then the cycle repeats itself.

This feature only works with Fabric currently.

    Asperitas clouds
    Low and high altitude variants:

    Mammatus clouds
    Low and high altitude variants:

    Fiery Sunsets
These will happen occasionally in temperate biomes such as plains or forests. Low and high altitude variants:

    Sandstorms
These will appear during weather events in deserts, savannas and mesa biomes. Low and high altitude variants:

    Tornadoes
You'll see these periodically sweep through the sky during the afternoon.
    (play video)

    Total Solar Eclipse
These will occur twice per every in-game year (365 days), for a few days. This feature only works with Fabric currently.
    Gas giants
Neptune, Uranus, Jupiter and Saturn will orbit the sky.

    Auroras
These will appear at night in cold biomes at new Moon.
    (play video)

    Northern Star
As in real life, the night sky will appear to be rotating around the Northern Star.
(right click video -> loop, and play)
    Shooting Stars
These will appear throughout the night.
    (play video)
    Meteor shower
This will happen at new Moon near the end of the night. (play video)

    Black hole
    (play video)

    Light pollution
The stars visible in the Milky way will become dimmer as the Moon gets more and more full to imitate light pollution
(right click video -> loop, and play)

    Outer Space
If you stand at the top of the world, it'll be like being in outer space. I recommend a render distance of about 8-10 for the best effect.
    (play video)

    Hurricane
These will happen during thunderstorms at certain times.
    Low and high altitude variants:

    Outer space variant:
    Custom End sky
    Main End island:

    Unique End biome skies
    End barrens:

    End midlands:

    End highlands:

    Small End islands:

    Latent features
    Vanilla support
A separate version is available for download that does not require any mods to work, but it's limited to a day and night sky only.

Works from Minecraft version 1.17 to 1.20.4. Be sure to enable Fabulous! graphics, otherwise the pack won't work.

Thanks to Csala Bálint for providing the template pack. https://github.com/BalintCsala/minecraft-vanilla-skybox

    Mod support
There are 11 biome mods that are currently supported by this pack, meaning the custom skies will work in those modded biomes as well. They have also been categorized into cold, temperate, warm and hot biome types.

    Supported mods are:
    -Biomes O' Plenty
    -Oh The Biomes You'll Go
    -Terralith
    -Promenade
    -Terrestria
    -Regions Unexplored
    -Traverse
    -William Wythers' Expanded Ecosphere
    -Nyctophobia
    -ExplorerCraft
    -Fantasy Trees

    Shader support
Please read the text file in the pack for instructions regarding shaders.
    Complementary comparison: (play video)

    Seamless fog
The point where the skybox meets the terrain is often a point where the illusion breaks with custom sky packs. This pack solves this, leaving no jarring lines on unloaded chunk boarders:

    Irregular cloud rotation
This one is a really easy feature to implement, but it's super effective. Clouds will "always" be at a different orientation on the same time of the day.
(right click video -> loop, and play)

    3D atmospheric falloff
Another advantage of using 3D software, is being able to add volumetric falloff to the cloudscape.
(right click video -> loop, and play)

    Proper cloud layering
Using alpha blending, it is possible to create proper layers in the skybox.
For example: at night, clouds will properly block out the stars, and won't show through them.

The glow from the Moon (and Sun) will be behind the clouds:

In Optifine unfortunately, it's impossible to block out the Sun/Moon with sky layers, so they will show through the clouds (this is not an issue with Fabric).

    Counter-rotating stars
This I think really gives a "celestial" feel to the night sky, seeing the Moon rotate freely from the star background.
    (play video)

So that's about it, I hope you'll enjoy this pack!

this looks so cool but when i downloaded it and played with it activated in the game, the only differences it made for the sky was that the clouds were gone and that there was the custom sun and moon. pls let me know how to fix it

The sun is probably behind a cloud, so that's why you don't see it. The moon rotates differently in this pack, that is what makes solar eclipses possible, so you will often see the moon during the day too.

Holy COW this is the most in depth clouds pack I've ever seen!! I love weather and stuff and always found it annoying that Minecraft struggles to reflect the variety of cloud types that exist. You've done a FANTASTIC job of implementing them, in looks and in function! Can't believe you even included mammatus clouds (and the other rare weird one, but I can never remember the spelling of it lol) Kudos to your dedication in making SO MUCH in this pack!

I'm having an issue with the animated parts of the skyboxes. They work just fine in 1.20.4, but I see nothing but empty sections of sky in 1.20.0. This is most noticeable with the tornadoes, where the texture for the tornado itself is just a solid box of brighter sky. Not sure if its a version incompatibility, but everything else works so I'm not sure what's going on.

Yes, this is because the animated textures need version 0.7.3 of Fabricskyboxes to work.
