After over 5 years and 10 updates of Halcyon Days being out of date, I have decided to update it myself. It is still in very early stages and there are many features in the original that I have not had the chance to update yet. (the connected textures being a prime example) However, I plan to continue porting anything I have not ported yet that I don't actively dislike.
Originally created by Ikezou for 1.6, 1.7, and 1.8, this pack holds a very special place in my heart. I have not had any contact with him while doing this, but I hope he is doing well wherever he is.
This pack is based more closely on the classic 1.6 and 1.7 versions of the pack, before Ikezou went back and redid many of the textures for the 1.8 version, though it does contain all the textures that were new to the 1.8 version.
Unfortunately, I have not yet had the time to create textures for all the new blocks that have been added since 1.9, however, I was pleasantly surprised when I realized that there were some blocks that Ikezou added for 1.9 preemptively, such as end stone bricks and shields. There were also several textures for special scenarios such as double slabs, where certain blocks would be able to look like crates, lanterns, barrels, and chains for decorational purposes. I was able to re-map those decorational textures to their functional modern Minecraft counterparts.
I do also plan to add textures for as many of the modern blocks as I can. I don't think I'm as good a texture artist as Ikezou, but hopefully I can create textures that at least blend in with everything else, even if they aren't fancy.
Like the original, this pack is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial Share-Alike 4.0, meaning anyone is allowed to modify and/or redistribute it provided that they give proper credit, don't ask for money, and also release it under the same license.

Back in 2014ish (I believe) the original pack was one my friends convinced me to use. So many of my early multiplayer memories are filled with this pack. It was so important to me I convinced other friends to join in on it. But... well you know the story, yours is as mine. One day the updates stopped and I couldn't cling to this pack forever.
Since then no other pack has captured my heart. I'd rather just play this one or keep everything original.
For the first time in a long time I started a solo world, and thought: "Oh wouldn't it be lovely if Halcyon days was updated after all these years? I mean why would it be...but what the heck let's look it up."
You have brought so much sentimental joy!
I get life is busy for you too, and I know that you can't spend every moment of your life updating it. But thank you so so much. I can't wait to try it out.
I had an extremely similar experience: Around 2014 a friend of mine showed me the pack and from then on I played almost exclusively with it on the multiplayer server I effectively learned Minecraft on and shared with many friends, where it became entwined with my nostalgia for those times. Simpler times. Halcyon days, if you will. ;D
Situations like ours is why I did this. After reading a reddit post asking if there was a 1.16 version I realized I might not be the only one out there who has a great sense of nostalgia for this pack, and that made me want to bring it back, both for myself and anyone like myself, despite the fact that I had never worked with texture packs before, so it is extremely heartwarming to have that confirmed in such a concrete way, and I cannot thank you enough for your kind words.
While I have been busy for the last several weeks, I am actually on break this week, so I will likely have time to squeeze some textures in before I get back to work. Having some time away from the project and reading your comment have really renewed my passion for it, and I am very excited to get working on some new textures this week! Plus, maybe I can finally figure out how OptiFine connected textures work so I can finish porting the original content.
The zip file can't be decrectly loaded. It's better to upload a loadable version.
