Ulamog, "The Infinite Gyre" was one of three Eldrazi Titans lured to and imprisoned on the plane of Zendikar in the Magic: The Gathering Multiverse. Over centuries, it came to be worshiped as a god by the merfolk, under its half-forgotten name of Ula.
The Eldrazi are native to the Blind Eternities, the space between planes where nothing can survive, except Planeswalkers for brief periods of time, and apparently these beings of pure instinct and destruction. The faceless Eldrazi consume mana and, in fact, entire worlds, for no known purpose. Eldrazi Titans, of which there were known to be three, are so massive and powerful, that they cannot even fully enter planes from the Blind Eternities, instead appearing as manifestations, like a hand reaching into a puddle. These visages are still massive and powerful, though, and twist the plane as per their respective influence, as well as spawn broods of Eldrazi to aid them.
Ulamog consumes incessantly, leaving only the chalk-like remains of its meals. Though the smallest of the three known Titans, it was only killed by binding its full form to the plane of Zendikar by twisting leylines - the very flow of magic through the multiverse - around it and the second Titan, Kozilek, and igniting them both in a spectacular flame, and only after unimaginable damage had been done to the landscape of the once naturally rich world.
