Bonjour! Voici la première publication de mon projet consistant à reproduire les évolutions de la Cathédrale de Strasbourg au fil des années. Voici la première version, la cathédrale ottonienne de Strasbourg, appelée cathédrale de Werner.
En 1015 fut entamé la construction de la cathédrale ottonienne par l’évêque Werner, et impressionne déjà les proportions considérables de l’édifice. Le style ottonien est compris dans le style roman typique du XIe siècle caractérisé par ses murs épais et ses étroites ouverture.
Cette cathédrale, comme dit précédemment était déjà un exploit pour l’époque de par ses proportions titanesques, et était l’une des plus grandes églises de l’empire germanique. La construction s'acheva aux alentours de 1040 et c’est alors le début du rayonnement de la cathédrale. Cet édifice va d’ailleurs inspirer plusieurs bâtiments religieux à travers l’empire romain germanique, comme l’église d’Oberzell où l’église abbatiale de Limbourg.
Hello! Here is the first publication of my project consisting in reproducing the evolutions of the Cathedral of Strasbourg over the years. Here is the first version, the Ottonian cathedral of Strasbourg, called Werner's cathedral.
In 1015 the construction of the Ottonian cathedral was started by Bishop Werner, and already impresses the considerable proportions of the building. The Ottonian style is included in the typical Romanesque style of the eleventh century characterized by its thick walls and narrow openings.
This cathedral, as said before, was already a feat for its time due to its titanic proportions, and was one of the largest churches in the German Empire. The construction was completed around 1040 and it is then the beginning of the influence of the cathedral. This edifice will inspire several religious buildings throughout the Germanic Roman Empire, such as the church of Oberzell or the abbey church of Limburg.
