Sequences of Life - by LeadPro

Within six snapshots, each representing a different period of time,
Sequences of Life explores a transformation of a once lush, primeval forest into an abandoned land, where nuclear waste dawns upon.

Sequences of Life is comprised of six 500x500 maps, each beautifully exhibiting incredible craft and detail, that collectively embrace a passage of time. Emerging from nothing, small villages, monuments, towering castles, army bases, and large factories gradually develop, only to be engulfed by the advancing technological era. In the end, the land exists to be overwhelmed with nuclear waste - completely deserted and irradiated. It sits in silence, in hopes for nature to nourish its land, where life refuses to flourish.

MAP DESCRIPTIONS:

Ancient (paleolithic):

Drawing inspiration from nature untouched by mankind, this map captures the serenity and mystery of the natural wilderness. Hidden beneath a dense tree canopy lie small tribe encampments, rolling hills, ancient rivers, and magnificent caves. Gravel paths cut through the undergrowth, connecting the encampments and allowing passage through an otherwise dark and dangerous forest.

The land began as a primeval forest nestled between two mountain ranges, untouched for millennia.
Classical (Egyptian/Greek/Roman):

This marvelous map seamlessly combines ancient Egyptian, Greek, and Roman architecture through its display of distinct landmarks, such as the Colosseum, the Great Pyramids, and the Parthenon. These beautiful structures have established their place within the center of a limestone valley, each landmark holding great history. Reminiscent of a desert oasis, a ring of trees surrounds the villages, temples, monuments, and farmland.

Heatwaves turned the lush valley to a desert, where the now-exposed limestone allowed people to build architectural marvels.
Medieval:

In a medieval kingdom lies five magnificent, stone castles, each built by an aging queen to house her children. Upon the small villages, rich farmland, and sparse forest, these castles and its occupant's lord for decades, gaining the respect of its people. Cobbled walkways snake through the lush blanket of green, bridging the castles and homes. This complex is nestled in a valley surrounded by natural stone walls that protect the kingdom in its entirety.

Sandstone monuments fell and the desert receded, giving rise to green fields and stone castles.
Industrial:

A large factory complex with branching railroad lines sits atop a small hill, inspired by the technological boom of the Industrial Revolution. Surrounding the complex is a small working town that supplies minds to run the factory’s operations and hands to build the railroads. The town is walled in on every side with mountains, whose stone is exposed from years of weathering and erosion.

The stone castles crumbled, and their foundations were torn up to make room for factories, working towns, and railroads.
Wartime:

Military bases, planes, and crumbling high-rise buildings paint a picture of the violent, hard-fought conflict. The valley is marked with craters, trenches, and wreckage, all surrounded by the skeletal remains of towns and villages. Planes fly overhead and watchtowers loom out of the dark like sentinels, creating an eerie, somber environment.

Factories and working towns were torn apart by war, and the land was split open by explosions and bombing.
Atomic:

A nuclear power complex sprawls across the valley, accented by nuclear reactors, industrial buildings, and power grids. Aircraft hangars, missile silos, cooling towers, and radioactive waste all create a chilling scene reminiscent of dystopian science-fiction.

After the war, the valley became a leading force for nuclear power. But electricity gave way to bombs, and greed spilled radioactive waste into the waterways. The valley has, once again, been abandoned, and left for nature to reclaim once more.
