This ship is an original Silver Empire battlecruiser for the movecraft plugin. It was built in the context of an AU to the Airship Pirates world me and a few people were working on for a while, in which the War of Aquisition lasted for longer than anticipated after the Silver Empire successfully scuttled South Haven to prevent its capture. The ship utilizes MystSpaTimeTrav's ITH as its main armament, so credit for that goes to him. The secondary battery is, likewise, based on one of his designs, though original on my part. The rest is my work entirely.

You may use or modify this vessel on your server, builds, and others but be sure to credit me and link the ship if possible. Thank you!

Background [Winds of War AU]:

In 757 AED, the navies of both the Silver Empire and the kingdom of Lanier's Royal Navy engaged in a large naval arms race during the War of Aquisition, with each side endeavoring to outdo the other with new technologies discovered after the temporary return of pirate captain Robert Bellamy into the war. the re-launching of the once fleet carrier Assertor as a Fast Battleship and the construction of new warships - and their success - validated the initially unpopular belief that the Empire needed a versatile fleet comprising multiple ship types working in unison in order to achieve superiority ver the versatile Royal Navy. The success of the Assertor-class BBs as capital ships likewise prompted the Board of Capals to order the construction of new capital ships, fully exploiting the industrial might of Verace and the Imperial colonies. An audacious plan for a fleet strong of nine battleships and nine battlecruisers (Commonly referred to as the "Nines") was put into place to achieve total naval dominance both during and after war's end. Accordingly, the new capital ships would be based on improved Assertor-class designs.

The first design to be pushed into production was that of the fleet's new Battlecruisers, vessels which were deemed necessary for the Empire; these capital ships, while wielding minimal armor, would have the guns and speed tocomfortably take on destroyer flotillas and Conqueror-class Heavy Cruisers, which formed the bulk of the royal navy's battle line. Additionally, their smaller size compared to Battleships and high speed would allow them to be produced faster and operate with cruiser formations, as both heavy support and flagship. Additionally, these new battlecruisers would need to have guns and armor able to counter the Renown and Relentless-class Battlecruisers of the Royal Navy in combat.

Influence from the Assertor-class was plainly visible on the final selected design, dubbed B-14. It carried an armament of two heavy triple turrets, the same as those found on Assertor, though with upgraded rangefinder equipment. The pair of main guns was mounted in an all-forward position, with the second turret raised somewhat above the other. While the hull was large enough for a third gun to be mounted, the heavy weight of the triple turrets - and most importantly, their magazines - meant that this was unpraticable as the ship would sacrifice too much of its speed to accomodate it. Instead, a cluster of three twin light turrets - the same as those found on the Mk3 Light Cruisers - were fitted aft of the bridge superstructure. Anti-aircraft defenses were quite heavy, with forty anti-aircraft cannons in new twin mounts mounted along the sides, along with two quadruple deck-mounted anti-aircraft turrets flanking the bridge superstructure. The design was similar to the AA turrets found on the Assertor-class.

Armor was provided by two layers of iron, similarly to the Assertor-class. Despite being the same level of protection as an Assertor-class, the armor belt was actually lighter than the Battleship's - naturally for a battlecruiser - though the layout was more advanced and more efficient than its battleship forebears, serving as a suitable prototype for next generation capital ships. Another flaw was the lack of reinforced deck plating, which made the ships vulnerable to plunging fire and aircraft bombs. By contrast, the armor around the magazine spaces for the main battery guns was quite impressive.

The first ship of the class, Praetor, was completed on the 1st of Septemon, 757 AED, shortly after the Second Battle of Sunkschiff. Her first three sisterships followed, being launched only one to two months apart from the first vessel. The second batch of Praetor-class ships was started immediately after the launch of the first four, with the fifth being completed to the same design as her sisters. The last four, however, were to be completed to a revised design.

The five ships, in order of launch, were named Praetor, Bellator, Emancipator, Allegiance and Redoubtable. All five would be active in the War of Aquisition, being mostrly found hunting cruiser squadrons and leading fast imperial battle lines. Allegiance, Bellator, Praetor and the sixth ship of the class, Judicator (completed to a revised design) notably participated in the brutal Stovak campaign, a large scale imperial offensive on the key Lanierian territory. Allegiance was famous for serving as Capal Jack Crow's flagship during the first Naval Battle of Stovak, where after a savage, ravaging charge on the Royal battle line, she was heavily damaged over the course of an intense battle by torpedoes and gunfire. Though she inflicted severe damage on her opponents, she was sunk the next day by air attack, taking the life of Capal Crow, who had elected to stay on the ship despite its damage. Praetor and Bellator participated in a heavy night bombardment weeks later on Stovak, destroying royal navy ships docked in the area, mauling an airfield and ensuring naval supremacy over the skies of Stovak. During that time, Redoubtable served as heavy carrier escort during the Battle of the Den of Thieves against SHSF remnants in early Secamon, 758 AED, where she saw minimal action, briefly damaging Battlecruiser Skull's Revenge. After relatively active service, the four sisters participated in the Battle of the Ventis Gulf, the largest naval battle in history up until that pointas part of the umperial "Main Body". Bellator was crippled by gunfire from battleship Lion and recieved significant damage from torpedoes and gunfire, sinking in the heart of the central battle. Praetor and Redoubtable survived the battle with varrying levels of damage, and participated on the assault of Fillanel until the signing of the Treaty of Aerie on the 14th of Decimon, 759 AED. The ships continued their service post-war until 765 AED, where they were broken up for scrap. Relics such as Redoubtable's radar set and Praetor's bow main gun and two of her secondary turrets are however still preserves in museums at Verace, Sunkchiff and Stovak.

Conquerer isn’t a heavy cruiser, it’s just a cruiser.

Capal Crow went down with his ship, just as any captain would.

Yes, and it feels like Crow to do such a thing. After being wounded by the royals and going through the most hellish gunfight of his life in a capital ship, I doubt he'd have just gone to another ship. Likely sticked to the Allegiance for morale and honor reasons - which had the effect of preserving his honor for the small price of eating airskiff bombs a day after

Also, I was one of the people who was working on Winds of War AU. Actually I thought it was just me and you, doesn’t matter though.
