Whilst chatting with a fellow named Benrex777, he mentioned programming minecraft computers using text. After discussing possible methods for doing this, the light bulb went off in my own head, and he inspired me to make a compiler in minecraft.

This works out perfectly because I had been curious how compiles worked, and had recently been studying them, but I find learning new things is easier when you have something to play with.

Or as Adam Savage would say: "The difference between [learning] and goofing off is writing it down!"

The project is currently under way. Any major updates will be posted on this project page.

Build Log #1 : by n00b_asaurus 09/02/2019 2:15:01 pmSep 2nd, 2019

First step in the build process - the text editor - is done.

It took a bit of tinkering to get everything to work out the way I wanted it to, and even then it still has it's fair share of issues, but it's usable enough to make text, and that's all we need to write code.

The next step will be to build the lexer, but I'm going to save that for a future update.

This version of the text editor is available here!
