This is my little music project. Anyone can (with enough time) build music in the form a long single chain of noteblocks in minecraft. I wanted to explore an economical system of noteblocks by recycling them. This is perfect for music that repeats a lot, especially gaming music, so I’ve built a little version of;

Heartache (Toriel Battle Theme) from Undertale.

Heartache is basically built on a repeating pattern of just 2 or 4 tacts. This repeating pattern pulses into a “hopper computer”. The build has 3 “computers” in the form of hopper chains, one for the verse the chorus and the bridge. An item buffers in one location in the hopper chain, and with each pulse it moves. Thus you can have an output for each repeated section; opening for layers or redirecting the music in that given section.

I wanted to make sure that the redstone is silent. I’ve used no pistons as they make too much noise. I’ve tried limiting the number of droppers as a failing dropper clicks too.

This was my first actual redstone project, and it was a pleasure working on it. I’m sure that the quality of the music can be improved. And I’m sure that the redstone can be compacted. This is just a first look into a new experience for me.

It’s would be fun to see other’s work with this technique too. Since I built this, I’ve seen that Etho also build a wonderful piece of music by a similar space-saving technique; check out his build “What is love” also.
