I wish to acknowledge that Hatley Park and the institution that now occupies it, Royal Roads University, stands on the ancestral territory of the Xwsepsum and Lekwungen people.
Hatley Park in Colwood BC, just a half hour drive out of Victoria. Early c20 Edwardian Arts & Crafts/Tudor Revival mansion with Gertrude Jekyll-inspired landscapes and Japanese follies. Victoria is nicknamed the 'Garden City' owing to the many attractive gardens and old world mansions dotting the city. I have tried my best to do this moniker justice by filling this build with lush gardens, big fluffy rhododendron and soft undulating landscapes.
This is a 1.5:1 scale reimagination of Hatley Park as if it had continued as a private home. This is not a 100% accurate reconstruction of the estate, some images posted here are completely imaginary. I've made adjustments to the estate to accommodate for the technical limitations of Minecraft, wherever I thought might enhance the park, or just for expediency's sake.
Hatley Park is better known in film and other media as the X-Mansion. My cousin was married on the croquet lawn (third picture ) a few years ago. Sadly no mutants were in attendance.
Big thank you to the archival team at Royal Roads University for providing me with floor plans, elevation maps, and other source material for this build.
