The rich landscape and vast mountainous terrain provides the ideal location for the citadel. Defended from the rear by the mountain, and on such imposing terrain that none of our siege machines can get to it, forcing the our forces into the mouth of the beast. Just trying to get to the drawbridge is suicide! There is no cover from the path to the gates, those ballista's will shred through us in droves! - Enemy Knight briefing his troops prior to attacking the citadel.

This castle was created by DonkyPoink as part of the First Dawn Project. This build, along with several others going live tonight are part of a mini competition we held in-house, amongst our team to see who could create the most effective and elegant castle. This castle was originally designed to be small fortress, but the longer Donky stayed with us ,the more it vastly expanded, becoming the fully defendable citadel it is today. Heck it even has its own church, for the soldiers to pray for forgiveness before they slaughter any that would dare assault the citadel.

Please let us know your favourite castle below in the comments, or with diamonds, but be careful the pirates may reappear to claim those diamonds as their booty. As a side unrelated note, the First Dawn Project will be going into closed beta next week if anyone is interested, send us a DM. We Received Permission from our Builder Donky to post this build with the Render once it was completed. For the record this build was built using the Conquest_ Resource pack, however the pictures used above do not display this.
CreditSquarish for the Render.

Hmm- I think this hits a bit into the middle-ground of the detail and castle design of the four uploaded ones. I like it, yes, as it's still certainly nice, but in the competition's comparison I think there various blander spots in both detail and layout where it could either be more fitting as a castle or more appealing aesthetically, which usually are no issue to me because I would like it but it's a mini in-house competition so I'm saying it unlike usual, and with that in mind I think this would be my third most liked one of them.
It still gets a diamond (and a favourite though) from me, so congrats Donkypoink, still. :)

Honestly at this point it's still growing in size. It does look significantly more detailed in conquest, however that couldn't be shown above. It is definitely a build that does it's purpose. However I'm sure donky will appreciate any feedback on improvements or changes to the build if it just furthers his quality that little bit more. Thank you for all your comments and voicing your honest opinions. It's nice to hear.

Well, I have to say that most things look better in Conquest so I'm not surprised as it's an awesome reosurce pack - just like how renders and shaders may make it look better, for instance (although I feel lighting should already be a little more epic to start with because I love lighting effects so it is a bit bothersome that shaders are the only way for it meaning many don't get it at all (rambling)) -, but focusing on the building alone, I guess general feedback would be things such as giving the rooves on the houses and structures throughout the city more overhang which is supported by blocks which mesh well with it - red and brown don't go that well together and Minecraft is a game of blocks so you'd need to take a slightly different approach to manage that, like using the same block as the roof for supporting it, or perhaps something like a jutting out log which the roof rests atop, using a trapdoor at the end of it to add depth to avoid it being a direct brown/red clash since depth avoids the colours directly clashing like that. Various things like pillars along the walls to break it up with details and more colourings can also give more to look at for them and make them seem sturdier if supported well too, and uh honestly I think the castle could seriously benefit from some flags waving in the wind but that's not advice and just me giving a personal opinion as it looks like a castle which would have flags. XD Personal view entirely.
Uh, well- I guess I just rambled because you said feedback may be appreciated so- Hopefully that helps Donky, if it were to be seen.
And you're welcome for my comments and for my honest opinions. :) Glad to know it was nice to hear.

The problem is, in conquest it's not red and brown. It's red and white. Terracotta looks like white cracked plaster. So default is like damn what an eyesore.

Ah, Conquest's little changes like that can be quite a nuisance in a sense. It's absolutely aesthetic and I like the pack but I can't use it because of the drastic changes of random blocks like that, as I build for people without it so I wouldn't use things they don't have, yet I suppose the changes slipped my mind anyway due to that. Not that it's what I meant though, no, since I was referring to the wooden houses' rooves but just wasn't clear enough in doing so. I don't think there's any terracotta on the build which I'd suggest changing that much. :p
