Eastern Air Temples

The Eastern Air Temple is one of the four original Air Nomad temples, and it was inhabited by a group of Air Acolytes after the Hundred Year War ended. It was one of two air temples prior to the war, the other being the Western Air Temple, which only housed female airbenders and was thought to be the most spiritual of all the air temples. However, during the Air Nomad Genocide in 0 AG, the temples population was wiped out, and the temple itself was severely damaged. Guru Pathik lived in the uninhabited premises for a long time, and it was there that he eventually taught Avatar Aang how to govern the Avatar State in the year 100 AG.
