The tale begins with the unfortunate loss of the original Mriya in Ukraine. The news of its destruction left us with heavy hearts. This build was born out of pure admiration for the An-225, a plane that has captured the imaginations of aviation enthusiasts worldwide. While it might seem late to upload this tribute, we believe it's never too late to celebrate the greatness of the An-225.
The build
Our Minecraft rendition stands at a 1:1 scale, measuring an impressive 84 blocks in length and 88 blocks in width. While we'd love to include an interior, the constraints of the Minecraft world leave us with limited space. Nevertheless, we've poured our passion into ensuring that every block does justice to this remarkable aircraft's iconic design.
History
The Antonov An-225 is a one-of-a-kind marvel, born and designed throughout the 1980s. It soared for the very first time on December 21, 1988, leaving a trail of wonder in its wake. A second An-225 was planned but was never completed, and production ceased in 2009.
In a heartbreaking turn of events, the original An-225 met its demise in February 2022. Yet, hope remains. Ukrainian authorities and Antonov's CEO, Sergii Bychkov, have pledged to rebuild this aviation icon. While concrete plans for its revival are still in the making, the An-225's spirit lives on in our virtual tribute.
