How to find on server: /build tp 844
60
Inspired by the Tyranid race from WH40k and H.R. Giger's Xenomorph, this organic won 3rd place in ShadowKingdom's under the sea / into the abyss contest. The entire final leaderboard can be seen here. The name Abyssal Carnifex refers to the abyss the creature is standing on, and his inspiration from the Tyranid Carnifex. This was my first organic on a scale like this; it was built using the technique of wire-framing in combination with loft. I hope it will stalk your nightmares!

For those of you not familiar with the artist behind Alien's Xenomorph, and who also inspired the Tyranid species in WH40k - Hans Ruedi Giger was a Swiss artist, best known for his biomechanical works. His pieces often display a strange marriage between horror and beauty; the elegant forms of the female body interconnected with machine-like metal structures. In my view, they never fail to show the rawness, or vulnerability, of life yet at the same time this is combined with a beauty that is difficult to explain. He has become one of my favorite artists, and I definitely plan on doing more builds dedicated to his style.
Below one can find some images, some made by Giger himself, some directly inspired by him, that I used as inspiration for this build.

I have this time not included a download for the build. If there is a high request for it I might do so in the future.
To visit the build on the SK creative server, please enter creative from the lobby first, then type /build tp 844. Please turn off night vision.
If I choose to release a download, please see the Creative Commons license below. It should be self-explanatory, but I will summarize it for you nonetheless:
What you can do:
1. Use the build for whatever purpose on your own server, as long as you credit me by linking to this page, and no money is made from it (either directly or indirectly!)
2. Share the build, either altered or unaltered, as long as you credit me by linking to this page, and no money is made from it. It must be shared under the same terms!
3. Use the build for 3D-art-related purposes outside of Minecraft (by all means, if your PC can handle it!), again: credit and non-commercial.
Please respect these terms! The license is here for a purpose; too often in this community are builds stolen or abused for financial gain.
