contact_support Tutorial (Bedrock)

Toolsmithing Table
A Toolsmithing Table is a block that is used to trim tools and duplicate tool trim smithing templates. It has a similar GUI to the Smithing Table and can be crafted using 2 copper ingots and 4 wood planks.
Note: It will appear a Knowledge Book has the recipe result, but, once you click it, you get the toolsmithing table.

Tool Trim Smithing Templates
These smithing templates are used in Toolsmithing Tables to trim weapon and tools. Each one can be found on a different structures.

Smithing TemplateStructureChance (per chest)
linear LinearTrail Ruins8,3%
tracks TracksPillager Outpost37,5%
charge ChargeAncient City3,8%
frost FrostIgloo40%

They can also be duplicated using a Toolsmithing Table.

Tool Trimming
Tools can be trimmed using a Toolsmithing Table. You can use 10 different materials to trim:
  • amethyst Amethyst Shard
  • copper Copper Ingot
  • diamond Diamond
  • emerald Emerald
  • gold Gold Ingot
  • iron Iron Ingot
  • lapis Lapis Lazuli
  • netherite Netherite Ingot
  • quartz Quartz
  • redstone Redstone Dust

Then, combined with the tool trim smithing templates, you can get over 1200 combinations! Unfortunately, enchanted tools will lose their enchantments if you trim them. The only way to trim an enchanted tool is by trimming a tool of the same type of the enchanted tool and combine the two on an Anvil.

Hi!

Tried out your mod for a bit and honestly I think it's awesome!
I initially thought that trims for tools would be a little bit excessive and unnecessary. It made a lot of sense for armour since they have 3d models that give a lot of space for customization. That was the case until I noticed that tool trims would really help to differentiate between gear : Say for instance, you have a efficiency 5 pickaxe, but you also have a separate silk touch pickaxe on the same tier, and you prefer to keep both of them. It can be a bit of a burden to keep checking the tooltip of the pick to make sure you're using the right one for the right job. So not only would tool trims help differentiate them, but in an artistic way too which is nice! The lack of space for customization also inspired you to make your own trims for tools instead of using the many existing ones which is also really nice !
However I think it'd help to try helping with differentiating between armour trims and tool trims since they look really similar, I'd suggest having the template (or the rune i guess) being shaped in a different way (you could choose an ellipse as a shape) for the tool trims.
I'd also suggest tweaking the Charge trim : It's cool that it helps colour your tool entirely to a colour of your choice but after applying the trim you basically cannot tell the base material used for the tool unless you look into the tooltip. So maybe leave some spots where the base material can be seen is what I'd suggest.

Other than that I really like the mod. Such a chad move for you to make it into a bedrock add-on, a java fabric mod and a datapack.. that's insane lmao

Unfortunately, adding elytra trims wouldn't be possible in Bedrock :(

In Java, it would be possible! But I think someone already did it, the Minecraft community is really fast making mods!
