This mod adds Steel Ore, Steel Ingots, and a steel sword. Steel armor will be added along with more ores and tool sets. Steel ore will naturally generate in new worlds. When you mine it, you will get steel ore that can be smelted into steel ingots. Steel ingots can be made into any tool (sword, pickaxe, shovel, axe, hoe) with the normal crafting recipes. The Steel portion of this mod is finished. The only reason why the progress is so low is because many more ores will be added.

To Install:
Download Modloader
Download Steel Swords and Tools
Click start and type %appdata%
Open .minecraft
Open bin
Open Minecraft.jar with winrar
Copy the contents of the Modloader zip file into the minecraft jar
Copy the contents of the Steel Swords and Tools zip file into the minecraft jar
Close all windows
Open Minecraft
Have fun!

You should remove the steel ore, as there is no such thing. I think it's a mix of Iron and Carbon, or some other element. Still pretty cool otherwise, though!

He's right. What I suggest is maybe smelting iron ore with coal to get it. Also, maybe make steel what iron looks like now and regular iron darker. Otherwise, great mod! Keep up the good work :)

Not that it matters or what not but steel is a metal compund made from multiple metals not steel ore. :P
