This is the basis for my mod pack that I am currently working on. I needed a low level mineral system that was interesting but simple to implement. Everything about the mod is explained in the changelog.txt contained in the zip but it is also located below. The mod I am working on now is the 'Influence Mod' which adds more depth to weapons and armors in minecraft. You could say that influences are enchantments but they are completely independent of enchantments and can stack with them.

NetherFarms adds more plants to Minecraft! All of the new plants and seeds can be obtained by using a nether hoe
on Netherrack or Soul Sand. A nether hoe is crafted like a regular hoe, but for sticks use Nether Quartz and
for the 'head' of the hoe use Netherrack blocks. After you create a large plantation you will start getting
things like, Burning Essence and Spooky Spirits. You can combine all of the essences(there are 3) with all
of the spirits(3 as well) to make a rare material known as Frutonium. With Frutonium now in your grasp you can
craft swords, pickaxes, and even armor. (Frutonium is stronger than diamond.)

Gossip / Secrets : Eventually, I want to release my 'Influence Mod' which uses the spirits and the essences
to infuse weapons and tools with great powers. I want Infusions to be seperate from enchantments so you can
stack a set of both on one weapon or tool. Some infusions in the future may be, 'Sword Beam' - When your
hearts are full, shoot a laser beam out of your sword (Hearkens to Legend of Zelda), and 'Spooky Infusion' -
when your sword is swung it repels mobs for a few seconds causing them to run in fear. For now, I think that
supporting this mod and keeping it alive will be hard enough but 'maybe' sometime I can work on Infusions.
