Magic of Summer - photography challenge
Because summer usually brings nice weather, and you may just be free from school or work at the moment, why not go outside and snap some pics? π I present to you; the Magic of Summer photography challenge, in which I challenge you to grab your (phone) camera, head outside and capture what summer feels like. We've seen drawing, writing and other non-minecraft challenges here on PMC, but I haven't discovered any photography ones yet. π
Here's the challenge:
- Go outside and take at least 3 photos which have a summery feel to them.
- [Optional] Edit your photos (< easy tutorial!) to really make those bright sunny colors pop!
- Submit your photography in a blog post* in the art category. [ example 1 | example 2 ]
- If you can, enter it in the Summer Vacation event too!
- Let me know about your blog in the comments on this forum thread.
- You'll receive a participation badge for your unofficial trophy case at the end of the challenge.
How to insert photos in a blog post.
1. Upload your image to a website (image-host) like imgur if it is not on any website yet. You need an image url (link), which you can get for almost any image on websites by right-clicking it and choose "copy image location". Find a more detailed tutorial for getting an image url at this link.
2. Click the "Insert/edit image" button on your forum post editor and paste the url (link) in there in the "Url" field under Insert link.

*Using your existing art blog for this challenge.
Perhaps you already have a blog post in which you collect all of your non-Minecraft artwork and photography. If you have one of those, and want to take part in this challenge, you can choose to update your existing art blog with your challenge photos instead. When you choose to do this, please write an update log to point out which photos are for the challenge, in order to be able to get the participation badge.
Due date: July 31 2019
Need inspiration? Rays of sunshine, butterflies, swimming pools, crowded beaches, cozy barbecues, camping sites, palm trees, a cold drink, ice cream, refreshing fruits, sunflowers! All these things and more could represent summer. π Here are some photos by me to get you in the mood for some summer magic:

Yeah for some reason it was doing that on mobile for me as well, but on PC it was fine. It was almost 12am when I uploaded so I didn't have time to fix it yet, I'm going to look into it in a couple hours when I'm officially alive again. Thank you for letting me know it wasnt just on my side

I'd be interested in entering. It seems like Imgur always puts a "Share" button and Imgur logo on pictures. Do you need an account to avoid that?
I usually just click "new post" and insert my picture then copy the image address. Don't even need to share it. Easy peasy.
Err I think you need an account to upload images to imgur at all? I might be mistaken, though.
Would it work to just upload them to Discord or something?

Yes you can still enter. π You can either enter photo's of your summer (taken before) or take pictures now and explain that our summer is your winter. π
You mean it's cold and snowy, the Calendar is the same for everyone on our planet, unless you're not on our planet that is :D

While it is the same month here as it is where you are, the season is different. Southern Hemisphere season = opposite to Northern Hemisphere :)

No, southern hemisphere has opposite season due to the axis being tilted... the sun light hours are shorter, the nights are longer, making it winter for the southerners

Hm. I'd love to enter, I'm currently in the perfect holiday location for this, but I don't like uploading my pictures to other websites, just to get the URL. Any ideas on how to get it without your shots flying around the web?
With Imgur you can upload "hidden", I do that all the time. This means that your image is on the site, but not in their feed or anywhere else until you share the link somewhere. π Meaning it'll end up in your private image gallery for you to use around the web!

With a good composition and some clever editing, even bad cameras can take stunning shots. :D
