While its the one I wanted most for the 3 (always want a way to customize pets) . But with that said the crab would have been nice to have. Shame it's most likely gone.

This is a very controversial topic rn… don’t judge me, but I feel that Minecraft is scraping amazing ideas with the crab/penguin, and all those other long lost mobs that we only see in mod packs now.
You're in company both numerous and good (altough I think there may well be a few among the losers that MC could do without).

It would've been my pick, but I can't say that I'm happy until I've seen how well the Armadillo is added in game.

I raised this point fairly far back in the comments, but (as not everyone is likely to read the full thread) am repeating it here:
A possibility is that at least some of the votes cast were from people who wanted NONE of the offered mobs and therefore voted fro the one they thought would be least. . . . . disruptive.
Things would also be more pleasant if all parties would assume that others voted 'in good faith'… they may have been 'wrong' (by some standard), and certainly voted without full information [everyone outside MS/Mj is in that boat], but even 'strategic voters*' should be given the benefit of the doubt.
Barring massive pushback during the run-up to release, we are all stuck with what MS/Mj foist upon us; better to push to make the announced winner as free of game bombs as possible [remember early versions of MobB] than to waste effort in fratricidal name-calling…

A name for the practice of casting one's vote not for what one wants (generally because that is viewed as unobtainable) but for whatever result that is viewed as attainable is thought to be least bad. q.v. Tactical Voting Basics for a decent introduction.

I do seriously hate the mob votes, it causes a split in the community, which leads to arguments and whatnot. All 3 mobs are usually fantastic, and people get upset if what they didn't vote for wins, and all they talk about is how much it stinks.

While people's opinions on what makes something cute or ugly are their own to keep, I have to argue the comparison between the Armadillo and the Crab. Crabs are probably the only other invertebrate that kind of look like spiders. They're certainly not as freaky, but no way are they as cute as a four-legged mammal.

I also am a builder,and the Crab looked really cute.In addition to this,almost nobody uses their Dogs and just make them sit to do nothing.I know a lot of people wanted Wolf Armor for YEARS now,and I even made an Armadillo in my personal projects back in 2022,so when teh Mob will be added to the game,the codes will overlap and my version of the animal won't work anymore.

I must strongly disagree. Also, I take my dog fighting. The penguin is actually the most useless mob of the 3 tbh. All it does is speed up your boat when boats are already plenty fast, it's for impatient people. The armadillo is not ugly, and you shouldn't even vote for mobs based on their appearance, but based on their usefulness.

We don't know the full motives behind everyone who voted for the Armadillo.
You're also basing the crab's usefulness on one tiny amount of info the creators gave us. It's certainly different from what the other options teased, but we didn't know how the crab claw would work, nor how widely its use could be applied.
Besides, at least we got the crafter.

i mean, everyone judges the mobs usefulness off of a 30 second clip. that's why we didn't get the savior that is the rascal, because everyone thought it would just give you an iron pickaxe. are they fucking stupid? yes. can i change the past? no. can i whine about the past? yes.
i cant deny what you said, so yeah, i was pretty angry by that time. i still miss them, crabs are my favorite animals and the main reason im even studying bio in the first place :C

And, yes, the key-ute vote (particularly from java players who can reskin anything they find unbearably ugly with little effort) is downright annoying…

I agree with you I mean like how did the glow squid win and the sniffer and why didn't the rascal win or the copper golem?
tbh the copper golem was mostly useless other than the fact its a golem like we already have clocks for redstone pulses
tbh, the allay only won bc ppl tought it would duplicate items (like it was shown in the announcement that it would gather the item you gave it and they didn't specify that it'd be only able to grab stuff that was already in the ground)
plus, the allay was actually supposed to be in the nether update, but it was scrapped. they added a scrapped concept to the mob vote. >:(
