This is just my personal take on it, but I'd start with grabbing the Prism launcher. It's faster than the vanilla launcher, and fully supports modding. You can literally set up different Minecraft 'instances', attach modloaders, download & install mods or... set up a whole modpack.

I actually wrote a guide about this some years ago... this one.

Maybe food for thought?

haven’t used Java in ages but I’ll tell you right now
modrinth is in general a better site than Curseforge for this kinda thing

also which mod loader are you using
Forge, Fabric or something else
also MAKE SURE TO GET THIS IF YOU’RE USING FABRIC
also multiple mods changing the same or similar features to one another typically are finicky in terms of compatibility with one another, so make sure you’re reading up on the mods before loading up a shit ton of them

okay so firstly you have to get a mod loader or a new minecraft luncher comepetely like curseforge but theres a lot of options anyways idk if this is what you were looking for but i hope it helped a little? I'd just look up how to get mods and then click the breakdown's video
