After much headache, I updated my Data & Resource Pack all on my own.
It now works on Java 26.1.2
Only 1 easy thing did not work.
I have a re-texture on the Persian cat to look like the Cheshire cat in Alice in Wonderland.
I am hoping the new .png skin just needs to be in a newer corrected folder.
The current Resource Pack folder structure is:
assets > Minecraft > textures > entity > cat > persian.png
This works on everything up to 1.21.8
I am assuming it changed because of the baby cats, right?
What is the new correct folder structure in 26.1.2?

holy crazy title
"There's more than one way to skin a cat!"
The jar in my version of 26.1.2 shows
assets/minecraft/textures/entitycat/persian.png
but haven't doe anything with cat textures recently.
How did it not work? (Cat and ocelot models appear to be broken locally, q.v. https://www.planetminecraft.com/mob-skins/?mode=advanced&op2%5B0%5D=54&op2%5B1%5D=23&order=order_latest , but I can't find a reference to the adult model having changed recently on the wiki https://minecraft.wiki/w/Cat )
