How to run a 256x texturepack?
Hello, today I installed the LB Photo Realism texture pack, 256x, and I can't seem to run it. When Minecraft starts, it shows the mojang screen, and then turns black for good. Here are my specs:
16 GB of Ram
Nvidia Geforce GTX 670 graphics card
Intel Core i7-3820 CPU @ 3.6Ghz
64-bit if that matters.
I would normally just think that my computer isn't good enough to use a 256x texture pack, but on a forum I saw that someone with worse specs then mine was running a 256x smoothly. Is there some "secret recipe" for being able to support these, or if not what is the problem?
Thanks!

What do you mean you can't run it?
Are you having general frame rate reductions?
Is it not even loading in-game?
Does Minecraft crash?
Is Minecraft having latency issues because the folder isn't structured properly?
Did something go wrong with the folder download?
Things that might help:
Running OptiFine Ultra (if you're not already)
Checking/necessarily restructuring the texture pack folder
Re-downloading the files
Maybe...?
o.O

By can't run it I basically mean it won't "work".
As I said, the game doesn't even launch, I just get a black screen after the orange mojang screen.
It doesn't crash, it just goes black for at least 15 minutes, didn't check if it started longer than that.
I don't know if it has latency issues since the game doesn't even load.
The folder download went fine, nothing different from other texture packs I've downloaded.
I am already running OptiFine Ultra, and have double checked the texturepack folder and re-downloaded the files maybe 3 or 4 times.
Sorry to sound negative, I do appreciate the suggestions though!

Try using mcpatcher I've had issues with optifine based installations.
Hm, it sounds a bit like the texture pack is just too heavy for Minecraft to handle as it is. If I were you I would find another at the same resolution and try see if that loads. Or get a lighter (lower loaded/smaller) pack and use that instead.
If I was better with computers and stuff I'd at least do you one more, but I've said as much as I can on this.
Sorry I couldn't help you. d:

Ya mcpatcher didn't fix it. Oh well, guess I'll just use 128x.
... Did you install optifine before you got this texture pack or both at the same time? In which case is your meta inf deleted?
The first time I did it I did optifine first then texturepack, but when that didn't work I did it the other way around(I reset my jar for that). And yes, my meta inf is deleted.
How much ram are you allocating to minecraft? I use LB 256 and dont have any issues.
are you running 1.5.2? and if so are you sure you have the correct LB version since any older versions of any texture pack will not work with 1.5.x+

Well according to minecraft, it says 50% (495mb). I tried to allocate more, but for some reason it doesn't seem to work. I am running 1.5.2, and I'm positive I have the correct version.
MCPatcher. That's a really high res Texture Pack. May not be the case but it's a good place to start.
