Is Halloween Really Dead??sentiment_very_dissatisfied
Last year, and pretty much the two years before that, Halloween night saw an absence of observance. No costumes. No trick-or-treaters. No bags of candy except for ones you bought yourself. I've stopped dressing up a long time ago, mostly cause I don't have the talent nor a budget set aside to make a good costume, but I still love seeing the younger generation having fun with it. How long is this "not-Halloween" going to last? Have you seen a lot of inactivity at your towns too, or could this be more of a localized issue?

Honestly don't pay attention so don't know.
No trick-or-treaters here, and if there are, then they don't come to my house.
Curious, does your 'town' have a porch light on to indicate T&T is welcome thing?
{I remember these becoming popular sometime in the 70s}

Nope.
Here it's slowly growing, even though a lot of people hate it and talk about it in public.
There are a lot of stores and mentions, but it's not fully accepted. "Tricks" always end in drama.
Asking someone if they celebrate it is a difficult topic.
My area has a lot of trick-or-treaters, it's easy to collect candy in blocks. It can be worse in places with bigger distances between people.
It's not dying, just not fully grown-up

Our town its gonna snow bad it's prob gonna be canceled again
But our house is away from the t or ting anyways, small neighborhood
The Halloween of my youth – where half a dozen of us stashed costumes and sacks at whichever house was nearest school, then spent near 6 hours on a carefully planned (to avoid any backtracking) free candy collection spree – seem to have died sometime late last century…
Too much chance of a random whacko (even in complaratively small cities and the 'burbs).
Limited trick-or-treating (usually daylight only and with an adult proctor at the end of the block) lingered for several more years. [By about 5, none of the family's youngsters would tolerate a parent etc. going house to house with them…. (Ya raise 'em to think and be independent & take the consequences 👍.)]
The covid craziness just drove the final nail in the coffin.
(I do know some people who live in small towns [<5K] where the tradition lives on, but even in such places there seems to be a level of heightened caution that prevents the sort of 'rampage' with which I grew up.)
For adults, the gorvernment covid response (at least in areas with enforced anti-private gathering rules) imposed a gap.
The thriving economy of the last three years isn't doing anything to restore the situation either.

But seriously, do you really make all your comments this long?

Wait wasn't it Cheif wiggum who said that after Homer told him about marges suprise then Homer actually told him his life story
I just remember hearing Homer say it on a video game. It was either Road Rage and/or Hit and Run. Never played the games as I didn't have them growing up, but I watched some playthroughs.
Simpsons Tapped Out
Or, it might've been a line in the show used in one or more games so the actors don't have to do as much recording.
No 🤣 only those where I've something to say….
no one's forcing you to read them
