Who did it First? Sonic vs Naruto
So we all know how Naruto and Sonic run with hand behind their backs but I want to see your opinion and reasoning on who did first: Sonic or Naruto! (I strongly believe it was Sonic who did it first)

Naruto was from 1999 but Sonic was from 1991 is that a good answer.
Sonic fan here! Pretty sure in the 1991 game the animation is left right left until fast enough to put hands forward. I do not recall ever seeing the same run like in Naruto. It may get stuck in the animation when remaining the same slow speed for a bit, that somewhat looks like it, but it's not the same animation.

I still don't think it's the "Naruto run" as many pointed out. It was merely to make it look like you were running fast, some say even for the least effort(energy), this happened in many games. Saint Seiya is one of those, more popularly dragon ball.
So no, I don't think Sonic or Naruto did it first. But of the 2, Naruto was I think.

Great job giving facts! But technically since Sonic first did it in Sonic Adventure in 1998 and then Naruto in 1999 that would mean Sonic did the arms behind back run first
I know it has a manga published in 1999 (Shōnen Jump #43) However, he started in 1997, with AKAMARU JUMP

So in short this is a discussion about who started the hands behind back running style with the two characters being Sonic the Hedgehog and Naruto, many will say that it’s Naruto who started it but others will say Sonic started it.
