You can put a pig in a saddle in a minecart then put the minecart in a boat and it will move automatically at a good speed with no powered rails, and you can ride the pig with a saddle. Cheap Minecart transportation. :)
When 1.12 was still a new thing, I heard a gossip there was a datapack which you could install to insert txt files that would show up in the world inside named book&quills.
