Yes it works, and will remain compatible in the next version (1.21.11).
The features of this data pack aren't likely to evolve, as it is already fulfilling its purpose. But if ever there is a breaking technical change in a future version, indeed, I update my data packs to keep them compatible over time.

so i have an issue where there's floating text where the shulker originally was, and i don't know how to get rid of it. any solutions for this?

Hi,

If you still have the data pack installed, such issue can be due to another data pack preventing the tick function to work (basically a "missing reference in tick functions tag" error). If you need more help on this as it could be quite complex to investigate, I advice you to join the Discord server and open a post in #data-pack-issues, also sharing the required information you can find in the guide of posts.
If you want to figure it out on your side, check the logs, and try to disable problematic data packs throwing errors.

If you removed the Shulker Boxes Names data pack in the meantime without running the uninstalling command, you can still remove entities manually using :
/kill @e[type=text_display,tag=pk.sh_bo]

What happens if shulkers are placed sideways and next to each other like in the image?

Names only appears at the top of them, but it is an interesting case.
I may update the pack to make it handle side-oriented boxes.

I think a good solution would be to put the names inside of a shulker box.

It won't be possible to set it directly "inside" the box, since opaque blocks just hide the name.

But I updated it. The 2.0.1 version now allows you to display names from sides automatically, depending on the Shulker Box facing blockstate.

It also makes the datapack compatible with Shulker Boxes facing downward.
