If you don't wanna read all this. I basically coded the Hot Potato, Golden Poisonous Potato and Enchanted Golden Poisonous Potato from the 24w14potato april fools snapshot into a data pack with the same functionality as in the update.

More Potatoes!
This is a data pack that adds a few items from the 24w14potato april fools snapshot. The items are the Hot Potato, Golden Poisonous Potato and Enchanted Golden Poisonous Potato.

24w14potato was a snapshot released on april 1st, 2024 and added a whole bunch of new (poisonous) potato related items. These were a few of them.
This data pack adds that those items and all it's functionality with it.

But what do they do???
Hot Potato
The Hot Potato damages the player when held anywhere in the inventory accept the crafting grid. The damage increases by half a heart every second you hold it until it reaches the limit, which is 5 points of damage per second (2.5 hearts).

When you hold the Hot Potato too long, you will die and a custom death message will show up (look at pictures to see death screen).
The Hot Potato has a few more unique properties.
These are:
  - Is unstackable
  - Is fire and lava resistant
  - Can always be eaten (even when your hunger bar is full)

When you eat the Hot Potato, you will place fire wherever you walk (if possible of course. It won't replace any blocks). This effect lasts forever unless you jump in water or if you die.

If you want to get the Hot Potato just craft it with any kind of potato (baked, poisonous or regular) and a lava bucket or by throwing any potato into lava or a lava cauldron.

Golden Poisonous Potato
The Golden Poisonous Potato is a food item with the same nutrition as a Golden Apple. You can craft it using 8 gold ingots and a poisonous potato in the middle. When eaten, it gives the player Poison II for 5 seconds and Absorption for 2 minutes.

Enchanted Golden Poisonous Potato
The Enchanted Golden Poisonous Potato is a food item with the same nutrition as a Enchanted Golden Apple. You van craft it using 8 gold blocks and a poisonous potato in the middle (this is a reference to the old crafting recipe of the enchanted golden apple). When eaten, it gives the player the following effects:

• Poison VIII for 20 seconds
• Absorption IV for 2 minutes
• Luck V for 5 minutes
• Bad Luck V for 5 minutes

Uninstalling data pack
Want to remove this data pack from your world? Firstly type /function hot_potato:uninstall. This will remove any code maybe left behind when removing the data pack from your world. If you have uninstalled the data pack you can just remove the pack from your world.
If you accidentally uninstalled the data pack, just type /reload and everything is fixed again! :)

Note
If the datapack or resource pack appears to be for an older version, don't worry just install it. It just works.
