Video games often have cutscenes where the camera shows the race track or new dungeon. Minecraft 1.19 mapmakers haven't had a way to replicate this behavior until now! I made a datapack that allows mapmakers to define a camera path, similar to replaymod, and send the player on a cinematic tour of the scene. The video above explains how I did it!
To use this, give this PMC post a diamond, then in Minecraft, run
This should be enough to get started, but I'll add more text here if people have further questions.
To use this, give this PMC post a diamond, then in Minecraft, run
/function camera:edit/start
This will give you a carrot on a stick. When you hold this specific carrot on a stick, options should appear in chat that allow you to create a new path. Click "[Create New Path]" to create a new path, then you can move each point by right clicking when looking at it. If you add a second path, you can cycle through each path by clicking "[View Next Path]". If you want to find a path so that you can run an animation, execute the following commands:/scoreboard players set searchId camera.math 0
/function camera:access_path/find/start
If you want to run the currently loaded animation, execute the following:/function camera:animate/start
If that fails to start an animation, double check that a path is currently loaded. You can tell if it's loaded if the particles for it appear when you are holding the special carrot on a stick. If it's loaded but you're still not being put in the animation, check the setting in chat that sets who gets put in the animation. The default value is "Editor", so if you don't have the special carrot on a stick, then you won't be pulled into the animation. This should be enough to get started, but I'll add more text here if people have further questions.
