1969, The Stonewall Inn, a hotspot for queer people of all kinds, was raided. In its couple of years being open, it had experienced many police raids to flush out its queer occupants, but this was going to be the raid that changed it all.
The flow of the police raid was changed in an instant, the moment a brick was thrown from the opposing side.
The police raid became a violent fight between both sides, eventually leading to a multi-day riot.
It was the big push needed to finally open the floodgates and gave queer people all around the courage to fight for their rights more than ever.
It is not for certain who, if any one person threw the 'first' brick at Stonewall, but it was an important time in LGBTQ history that helped to show queer people all over the world we could fight for our rights, and we needed to.
