Hello, I'm maniacheto here with a new blog. As a long time player in the Minecraft world- Almost 3,5 years now, I'm seeing people loosing interest in Minecraft. Is it true ? Let's talk about it !
The first thing is that alot of my friends actually stopped playing the game. Why ? They started playing games that are more interesting. What do I mean here ? Well, Alot of Mini-games and new adventure maps have been made in the past years and people continue to make them. But in your days, most of the maps aren't original enough. Smaller servers started copying the bigger's game modes and not making new. I know it may be hard, because Almost everything is already made.Even the bigger server's Mini-games are getting boring !
The second thing is that Microsoft has bought Minecraft. That is not a bad thing, but we will not expect new Patches in the next 5-6 months ! Most of the Mojang Team has left the company. Bukkit Servers stopped updates anymore. This means that some servers are going to be shut down for a period of time.
This is my opinion, and Mine only. That doesn't mean that It's true, but I see that more and more people don't like Minecraft anymore. It's a normal thing ! Even World of Warcraft is starting to fall apart slowly. Games are changing and the older ones are getting no more attention. Do you play Donkey Kong or Mario in our days ? The answer is likely to be NO. This is a common thing that happends all the time. People don't use old computers, because they have new ones that are better !

I have to play mods or adventure mAp to stay interested
Microsoft May have bought minecraft but we should at least give them a chance. So many people have just assumed that because it was so easy for notch to leave it that he had lost faith in it and so many people believed that was the end of minecraft. BUT we need to wait for a while see what happens with 1.9 and then if it lives up to the standards that I am hoping for then word will spread and the community will grow again. If by chance 1.9 turns out to be a major f- up then obviously the community will begin to shrink faster than it even is now. No-one can predict the future though and even if minecraft breaks down don't you believe that many games studios and developers will see this as a chance and begin working on a game that could potentially be the new giant video game. My main point is basically, yes the community is shrinking, yes many gamers, have moved on but we honestly should just wait and see. Don't worry something will happen and it'll all turn out fine.
There are so many build teams in it for the money, and so many servers ran without originality just to make money off 'donators'. It's shameful, and i dont blame Notch for leaving. This game is his child, he made it almost singlehandedly- he should get to decide how its played, which is why i hate people complaining about the EULA.
I am making a server- www.disneymmo.moonfruit.com which is driven by community contributions for FREE. And yes that means that there is basically 3 of us atm, with more donating projects in, but it's dedicated to passion, and completely original. Yes its plugins that exist, but it's the theme, the combination, the meaning and limitations and allowances you put on players that makes the server. Not having the same old minigames and a nice big spawn!

Friends who play MC come and go, that means nothing.
And also, Microsoft has taken over Minecraft at a point at which redstone development and survival complexity have reached an extreme high, so why bother that much?
What do you think you know about the community?
To me it seems like you know nothing.
I wanna see some exact numbers.
I wanna hear real people's opinions and want to hear them say that the play modded Minecraft.
There's tons of people out there who think that they can just claim things like this without any further proof.
Stop "statisticing" around and show me your sources.
