The Legend of Minecrack

Once, there was a warlike population of humans, now called the ancestors by the players of Minecrack. They lived on a world, filled with every kind of biome imaginable. The humans worshiped entities simply known as the Gods, a group of beings with unimaginable power who are said to have created their world and the flora and fauna upon it. The humans were a highly developed civilization, but not many records or writings were preserved from what caused this civilization come to ruino ¦

All that is known is, that one day one of their Gods accidentally opened a dimensional gate to an unknown realm, inhabited by evil creatures and an unspeakable beast. The fearless ancestors explored that realm of terror, which was never supposed to be discovered by them and became known as "The End", and agreed upon that those atrocities had to be slain. After a long campaign only the bravest and strongest of their exploration party remained and had to face their most fearsome enemy. It's unknown how they managed to take this dreadful creature down, but it is said that they returned eventually. They did not return empty-handed though, but brought an artifact with them, which their enemies were guarding. It appeared to contain powers beyond their comprehension and their greed and over-confidence in their own abilities made them blind to the risks and dangers it contained as well. The moment they brought that demonic artifact to their own world was when their fate was sealed ... When they realized their fault it was already too late. All attempts to destroy or return the artifact failed and it slowly corrupted their world, by creating a rift between both dimensions, which caused their world to be flooded by all kinds of terrifying creatures. The ancestors stood their ground bravely at first, but suffered from heavy casualties. They lost hope when they had to witness their dead rising again. Unable to defend their world against their undead former comrades they decided to play one last gamble to save their species. They imitated the dimensional gate that one of their gods, who they called the Fallen One, who caused the demise of their civilization, had created and built similar portals. They started evacuating through those portals, which led them into unexplored, but seemingly safe worlds ... but fate is fickle.

Emerging from one of the two dimensional gates which were finished in time, some of the humans were brought into a cold, mountainous world. Another group of humans strode through the portal into a lush, fertile and warm world. Right after the first humans passed into the worlds, both gates had to be closed because of the corruption, which reached them, and protective runes were set to seal the gates in order to prevent it from spreading into the new worlds, dooming all those who were left behind. So it was, that the human species was divided in three populations without any way to communicate with each other. Those left in the their former homeworld had become devolved and corrupted beyond recognition. Over time, the uncorrupted survivors in their new worlds started to adapt to the environment and first evolved into abhumans, and then into something beyond human.

After a millennium of evolution the humans had evolved into two very different species: Dwarves and Elves. The Dwarves were short, strong and had evolved an ability to see in the dark caves they called home, short in stature to better fit their tunnels and strong to mine the ores from the deep mountains they now called home. The Elves were lithe, tall and fleet of foot better to travel the spanning fields of their world at speed, steeped in the lore of nature and magic. Both races regained the knowledge of dimensional travel and managed to bypass the protective runes sealing the ancient portals. The Dwarves were driven by greed to find more diamonds and other precious ores and the Elves opened the gates in their arrogance, thinking they could master the powers that had driven their ancestors from their homeworld. The instant the portals reopened, the corruption started spreading through them and foul beings of the ancient homeworld, now called the Nether by the new Races, poured through. With bow and sword the denizens of the Nether were beaten back, and runes were laid to prevent the corruption from spreading further, but it was impossible for them to purify the already corrupted area.

Both races sent exploration parties into the Nether, to find out about the fate of their ancestors and to salvage artifacts of their forefathers. The world they found was no longer as it was described by the ancestors in their tomes. It was corrupted beyond repair, but still some great buildings of the past stood their ground, now called Nether Fortresses. Ancient and rare alchemical ingredients and resources could be found in those fortresses, which made them worth exploring. Those humans who were left behind were corrupted and had to be cut down mournfully. At first neither Elves nor Dwarves found trace of any other portals, wondering the fate of the other ancestors.

Then, the descendants of the humans met each other for the first time in many centuries. They did not recognize the other being in front of them as descendants of their ancestors, but rather as another perversion of the admirable form of humanity. Both races believed that they were the rightful inheritors of their forefathers, claimed their ancient homeworld as theirs and went about exterminating the perversions of the human form they saw, earning experience from those worthy opponents, which can't be compared to the weak creatures they were used to slay. They studied the unfamiliar gear that they looted from their dead corpses and used it to improve their own.

Furthermore it was discovered that the resources of the new worlds of both races, which were each lacking some desirable resources, were available for pillaging and both Dwarves and Elves would invade their twisted cousins worlds through the dimensional gates. The journey through the Nether to the portal of the opposing race is dangerous, but claiming the rightful place as the true descendants of the humans is worth it.

It is an age that only knows war, and the Gods are not going to stop them, because they realized that the extermination of one of those races would bring enduring peace to their creation. Both races strive to make the ancestors proud, but only one race can claim the ultimate victory over the worlds of Minecrack!

The Deities of Minecrack:

In ancient times, the god father mindlessjack created the worlds and life of Minecrack, which consumed most of his energy and made him slowly fade away into oblivion, but before his inevitable demise, he used his remaining power to appoint successors to protect his creation. Eventually three mortals were proven worthy, in times from which very little records remain. Those Gods were colddemon, M4RIJ4N and Flever. One day, Flever accidentally opened the End gate and became the Fallen One. The mortals stopped worshiping him as a god, because he brought great grief and sorrow upon them, and therefore he slowly perished. The remaining deities were looking for a replacement to fill up their ranks and Tietun was lifted to godhood and ascended to the heavens, because of his deeds as a mortal. Since he is the youngest among them, more records concerning Tietun are still available to mortals, in literature and in living memory alike.
