Chapter 3-No cure

David visited Stokey in jail trying to make her recognize him but it only keeps on trying to attack him, Stokey is chained in an iron chair.
David didn't gave up, he visits Stokey every week and sometime with his friends, talking to her even though the guards told him that the suspect has no chance of remembering him.
“Times up” the guard said.
David stand up and walk to the door, he looked back at Stokey being lead to her cell.
Three guards are behind her, one holds her chain and the two holds a high powered zappers in case Stokey tries to escape.

Stokey was pushed inside her cell, all the inmates on the other cells are afraid of her, she's separated in a cell alone with no one that can talk to her, hands are unchained when she’s inside the cell but her claws are not enough to dig the 40 inches thick wall.
It was late night when a inmate waked her up by slapping his slipper in the wall Stoke slammed the wall and told the inmate to stop the noises, her strength left cracks on the wall.
The inmate asked her if she wants to keep it a secret, Stokey said yes.
Inmate: “so you won’t tell him that all the time you have controller of your ability”.

Stokey: “no, I don’t want him to see me like this”.

Inmate: “how long will you do that act”.

Stokey: “until he stopped at visiting me”.

Inmate: “what! Your keeping your life miserable”.

Stokey: “why do you care, and who are you anyway?”.

Inmate: “I care because I’ve experienced that kind of loneliness too but mine is much worst than yours”.

Stokey: “why, your parents died, your friends forgotten you, your number two in the city’s watch list”.

Inmate “no…it’s about my past life… I've lost my brother and my friends and their dreams because of a mistake”.

Stokey: “okay Mr. Depressing what did you do”.

Inmate: “I’m the reason why Beta corp is here that made you to that.. that thing”.

Stokey punched the wall, her hand breaked through the wall and grabbed the guy’s neck.

Inmate: “before you kill me, let me explain first”.

Stokey let go of his neck.

Inmate: “[coughs]okay where should I begin [breathing heavily] …a long time ago, I guess your still not alive at that time…. I’ve discovered something that free the creatures of hell but we’ve manage to close it, I’ve got trapped inside that inferno for how many years but ide didn’t loose hope [he hold his neck] I’ve waited, hided, and caught
I’ve been slaved and was forced to build a fortress with the other slaves, I’m the only human in there well except for some that looks like human but has long noses that goes down and covers their mouth the door or portal opened again and some strange people wearing hazmat suits found me.
They tried to use me as an experiment so I’ve escaped now they are here disguising as the Beta corp and then…”.

Stokey: “Enough of this children’s story, I know you want me to get you out of here”.

Inmate: “how did you know”.

Stokey: “ I saw it in movies, anyway? how did you fall into this place?”.

Roger: “I’ve tried to stole someone’s property which I know that land is where my old house should be, its just renovated”.
Roger put in a rolled poster in the hole “cover the hole you made with that poster”.
Roger covered the hole from his wall with the same copy of the poster.

Stokey: ”how many copy of this poster do you have?”.

Roger: “enough to cover all the holes we were digging around the jail, just be quiet and when the guard asked you anything just say yes”.

A guard knocked his night stick at the iron door “whose making that noise?” Roger leaned on the poster, the guard peeked at Rogers cell, Roger is just sitting, the guard peeked at Stoke's cell Stokey is laying down at the iron bed “are you a fan of Ex-V too”.

Stoke: “um!!… yeah I guess?”.

The guard stared at her then leave.
The next day Roger showed Stoke his escape plan out of prison, Roger told Stokey to destroy the wall at the main bathroom that leads to a forest because it was already heavily damaged from the people that tried to break out of prison, Stoke refused.

Roger: “you want to waste your life in here”.

Stoke: “the police will just chase me again and when caught me they’ll put me back in here, I don’t want to get zapped by their tesla guns”.

Roger: “that will only happen if your stupid enough to get caught, your wasting your abilities, you only use that to steal cloths and food from houses, huh...Weak!!!”.

A guard noticed them Stokey stood up and she walk back to her cell, Roger followed her.

Roger found her sitting on the corner of her cell: “if you’re still thinking of your friend then this is the opportunity”.

Roger thrower a bread to Stoke and went back to his cell
After a long time sitting at the corner of her cell Stoke finally decided. She pulled Roger to the bathroom.
One hit from her hand and the entire wall of the bathroom shattered like glass Roger followed her.
The guards tried to stop them from escaping but their attention turn to the stampede of inmates trying to escape too.
Roger and Stoke ran to the forest and the guard we’re out of sight they stopped at a road, Roger went to the right path and he said that he will find a job and change his name while Stoke went on the left path that leads her away from the city.

Roger: “Good luck and thank you”.

Stoke walked the Mile road and end up to a house she didn’t breaked in instead she tooked the clothes hanged outside.
A old guy spotted her, she sensed the old guy and tried to run away.
The old guy told her to stop at his house for a while because it’s getting darker.
The old guy gave her food to eat, he told her that he will buy clothes tommorow because Stoke is using his.
He let her use the extra bedroom on the second floor next to his bedroom.

The next day, Stoke woked up, the old guy is not around, she look around the house and she found family photos of the old guy, pictures about the guy, his wife and their son.
On the table is an full family picture in a frame.
Then the old guy come in and brought her newly bought clothes.
Stoke said thanks and changed upstairs, when she go down, she saw the old guy looking at the pictures.
Stoke approached him, the old guy told him that his wife died last year while his son is not found until now, the old guy said that his son and Stoke had similarities because their both half wolf humanimals.

Noon time, Stoke told the old guy that she needs to go, the old guy told her to stay buy she refused.
She opened the door and as she walks away, she wiped her tears, “sorry dad”.
The escape of the two inmates quickly got reported to the precincts and the search for the suspects began.


Grey and Bing B. gone back to their job as partners and Chief Ronald Stone was assigned to a new precinct, his partner lost his hand after Stoke throw him off the window.
His hand is now replaced by an iron fist, he’s having a break for now for his other wounds to heal.
Everything gone back to normal days later the 275 year festival of Von is celebrated, a lot of people was at the Redstone park to have fun getting pictures and drinking beer while police are around the park dressed as civilians.
Stone was there sitting at his mobile sipping the last drops of his beer.
Someone pulled his shirt, he looked down at a little girl asking him to help their family driver that is having seizures.
Stone approached the situation, he called the other police men to bring medics, the people around are forced to stay back, Stone tried to calm the patient while the medics have not arrive.
The driver can still speak and all he said is it was painful, his flesh is turning pale.
Medics has arrived and the driver was put on a stretcher and brought to the ambulance, the mother asked Stone if they can have a ride to the hospital, Stone agreed and they followed the ambulance.
While on their way the ambulance they were following drifted and crashed on a electrical post.
Stone stopped the mobile, the back door of the ambulance opened and a bloody medic hops on their bumper and tried to reach them from the wind shield, the kid on the back seat screamed, Stone reversed the mobile, the medic fall.
It stand up and run onto them, Stone stepped on the gas, he bumped the medic to the ambulance, the medic hold the mobile and it lift the two wheels of the car, Stone reversed it pulled the medic to the ground, its still holding on the car, Stone stepped on the gas, he bumped the car and broke the medics neck and spine and crushed the head upon the crash.
They drived beside the ambulance, two more bloody medics are inside but cant get out from their seat belts and the front of the ambulance is badly dented.
The patient is outside a few meters away with a trail of blood, Stone told the mother to cover the child's eyes, he drive at the family driver's body then drive away.



Back in the Redstone park people gone back to their places celebrating while others are still shock then one by one the civilians experienced seizures, police started to notice that the people that got seizures drank beer so they’ve ordered everyone to stop drinking beer.
More ambulance came to get the civilians but the Ambulances were not enough because there were so much accidents happening in the city right now so others were brought through others cars until only one more civilian was left his seizures stopped when the medics arrived.
They checked the body, his eyes are open but blank grey in color, pale skin and his not breathing a medic tried to revive him until he the man started to move it grabbed him to his shoulders and bit his neck.
People tried to drag the stranger away but he’s too strong and attacked some police biting them at their arms then it attacked the civilians, the other police seizures
The police shoot the man and killed it before it can hurt more all the bitten civilians seizures and the other bitten police attacked their members.
Grey and Bing B. are reported to go at the incident, on an intersection Grey slowed down she looked left to right then she go but a armored van bumped them at their side, their vehicle over turned.
Someone from the Van go out to check if their alive then he pulled them out.
Bing B. saw the guy, he punched it in the eye, he grabbed his gun and told the guy to stay back, a doctor came out of the van and calm Bing B.
The doctor convinces him to lower his gun and they helped the unconscious Grey.

When Grey woke up, shes on a stretcher and beside her is Bing B. and a doctor and 4 men wearing the same uniform which seems to be the doctors bodyguard on her right .
Later the doctor introduced himself as Mark. The 4 men were Antonio, Lando, Tord, and Fernan.

Grey asked Tord: “what happened to you”.
Tord: “Ask your nice friend”.

Doctor: “can we just get on to this… Ma’am we’re sorry for crashing in to your car, we are in hurry, we are from Breakthrough Pharmaceuticals and we are supposed to return at our lab when Danny forgot to slow down at an intersection… were really sorry ma’am, we will pay for the debts.

The doctor check them, Both Grey and Bing B. didn’t have severe wounds, just scratches.
As the Van drive, it passes a lot of people running around and attacking each other.
When they reached the pharmaceutical, they are welcomed by the soldiers. Tall walls Enclose the area, near entrance was a number 12 spray painted in the wall amount of troops in the area is enough to defend the entire the base, two of the doctor’s bodyguards stopped at the entrance and stayed there while the doctor takes Grey and Bing B. for a tour inside.




Stone stopped his car when he saw a lot of vehicle blocking the way, they gone out and walked, dead bodys are around with wounds from gunfires, they passed a burning car, there’s a dead soldier next to it, quite toasted and his face is still burning.
The radio is still working, Stone get the radio, he found 2 grenades on the corpse and there’s no more to loot.
They proceeded… a tank is blocking the way, they found a way around through a small way beside the tank but Stone can’t squeeze through it so he told the two to go and they’ll meet on the other side.
Stone gone inside a convenience store, the lights were out he brought a flashlight but without a battery, good thing the store has some.
He grabbed an eco bag in the shelf and get some chocolates, candies, water, easy open canned foods, and first aid kits. He saw a enclosed fire axe near the fire exit, he breaked the glass with his elbow and tooked the axe.
Someone camed in the store Stone crouched, he turned off his flashlight and slowly sneak to the stranger, his gun is in his mobile.
The stranger sensed him, Stone stopped behind the shelf, the stranger jumped on top of the shelf and it’s smelling something. Stone is just underneath.

Stone closed his eyes and silently said “my god, pleas help me Notch”.

Stone stand up and jumped, he swung the axe to the stranger on top.
It jumped onto the next shelf and his axe hit the other shelf making some noise, Stone turned on the flashlight on the strangers face to dazzle it, then he ran outside, Stone looks back while running, the stranger is chasing him.
Stone stopped to pick up a rock, he throw it and it hit the strangers face, it got more angry, it’s eyes turned blue and fangs turn sharp.
Stone ran while screaming, the stranger is much faster than him running like a wolf, it quickly reached him.
It laid him to the ground and covered his mouth. “Quiet”, Stone nodded, it let go of him.

Stone looked at her: “your”.

Stranger: “the suspect you dazzle with you shiny head…why’d you just flash your light at me then ran and scream like a kid?”.

Stone: “I don’t have a gun and I’m scared”.

Stranger: “your rock boy…right?”.

Stone: “And your supposed to be Stooookey..?”

Stokey: “uhhuh”.

Stone: “sorry to what I did when I was the rock boy…you know that time, when I...”.

Stokey: “its alright, in apologize for biting your arm”.

Stone: “nahh!! This is nothing compared to what happen to you”.

Stokey: “its not your fault, I can’t believe that you’re clearly the opposite of before”.

Stone: “the trauma caused it, trauma from you”.

Stokey: “ohh! so that’s why you screamed, your scared of me, hah rraaar!”.

Stone: “don’t do that”.

Stokey helped Stone to get up, Stone got back to his mobile to grab his gun, he opened the trunk and grabbed the other weapons.
He gave Stokey a shotgun although Stoke doesn’t need it Stone told her to keep it in case.

Stone asked a favor to Stokey if she can push the tank away so pushed the tank for Stone so he can get through, the mother and girl are waiting on the other side
Stone asked if they are okay then he introduced Stokey to them as his childhood friend.

Stokey: “you have a family”.

Stone: “they are not my family, I’ve just helped them”.

Stokey asked the kid if where is her father, she said “he is working”.

Stokey: “are there anyone with you in your home except from you mother”.

Little girl: “daddy”

Stokey: “other than daddy”

Little girl: “Manny”

Stokey: “whose Manny?”

Little girl: “our family driver”

Stokey: “where is he”

The little girl pointed his finger to Stone: “he drove his mobile on him”.

Stone looked at the mother: “i thought you covered her eyes?”.

Mother: “she keeps on pulling it away”.

Stone: “its your responsibility to keep that kid from anything that can cause her fear”.

Mother: “son cover you ears, well this shouldn’t happen if you just drive and left the driver on the ground”.

Stokey is just watched them yell at each other

Stone: “wow so you’re telling me that this is my fault”.

Mother: “no I’m just telling you why’d you need to drove over that dead body”.

Little kid: “mom why are you yelling at grandpa?”.

Stone: “oh! My gaaad, I’m just 38 I’m.. only… 38… no! No don’t laugh at me… the three of you”.

Stokey laughs: “he called you grandpa!”.

The mother and the kid is also laughing at him, Stone just hold his head with both hands.
Stone just walked away and the others followed him.

Its getting dark, they found an apartment, Stone and Stokey checked the place, no one’s inside, the entire place is messed up and only 2 rooms are good to sleep in.
Stone cooked the canned food on the kitchen while The mom and her child occupied the first and Stokey occupied the second.
Stone brought the food, he knocked the door of the mom, she opened the door and tooked the food then closed it before Stone asked if he can sleep in.
He knocked to Stokey’s door, Stokey opened the door, took the food then left the door open.
The lights on the room are off so Stone switched it on line, he saw Stokey eating the food while sitting on the floor.

Stone asked her: “the table is just behind you, haven’t you learn to eat on a table?”.

Stokey: “do you think there is a table with chairs ready for you when you eat while your wandering on the street”.
Stone sat down near her.

Stone: “nobody took care of you, your just all by yourself… how did you survi… wait! Don’t answer it”.

Stokey: “at least this curse keep me alive for years”.

Stone: “why’d you need to turn off the light?”.

Stokey: “my eyes are sensitive to light”.

Stone: “that explains why you you’re dazzled from my shiny head”.

Stokey: “ewwww grandpa!”.

Stone: “stop it, it’s not funny”.

Stokey smiled and eat her food

Stone scratch this head: “can I… sleep in here”.

Stokey finished her food: “yes but not in the bed”.

Stone: “but why”.

Stokey: “first of all your not my grandpa and second! It’s been a long time since I slept on a bed because most of the time I sleep on the streets…your sleeping on the floor sir”.

Stokey throw him some blankets and a pillow.
Stone laid it down, he checked his phone and tried to contact Grey and Burdado but there is no signal so slept!




Just a few hours later on the base 12, the military can’t hold on much longer on the surprise attack of hordes and hordes of infected that keeps on trying to enter the base, one by one the troops got infected.
The base is surrounded, walls are not enough to stop the infected from climbing up.
The Pharmaceutical commenced lockdown, entrances and widows sealed itself with a thick iron door and window.
There are only a small group of soldiers left including the lieutenant, two of the doctor's bodyguards are left outside to drove the infecteds attention to them giving time for the place to lockdown itself, they got infected.

Mark with the other doctors fear that they will get trapped there until they die or get infected, they examined a lot of infected body for hours but they didn’t saw anything in the blood no virus, bacteria or fungus that can cause the infection is found at the body's, at least their clear that the weak point is the heart.

Lieutenant called a chopper to rescue them at the roof top all they need is to wait until it comes.
They can hear the sound of infected outside.
Some soldiers are set to quarantine because of early signs of the infection, they are separated on a room with bomb proof glass and iron doors.
There are no sighting that they were bitten
So scientist are wondering what can cause them to be infected.

The lieutenant receive a call from the pilot in the radio that the chopper is almost there.
He ordered the people to head to the roof top but Mark refuse to come, he is not still finish examining the patient.
Only one of his patient is in the room sitting at the table.
Mark still didn’t got any results from the blood so he get a sample of the saliva and put the sample in the analyzer, it will take a while so he waited.
His patient fall down the table so he helped him up, it grabbed him and tried to but him, Mark grabbed the tray on the table and slammed it on the patients head, he grabbed some of the chemicals and spilled it on the patient causing the half of it’s face to melt.

Mark pushed it outside the room, the next room had the other patients that already turned, there’s a glass pane that separates the two rooms.
Mark used the tables and chairs to obstruct the door, the other patients are slamming the glass to break it.
The patient outside tried to get in, tables and chairs are not enough, Mark thrust the obstruction to hold the patient of.
80% the analyzer is almost finished.

Lieutenant and the others are waiting at the roof top, the door leading to the roof top is chained in case.
Grey remembered the doctor so told the lieutenant to wait for them.
Grey found a way back into the building through a vent, she heard the scream of help from Mark so she crawled and found him on the lab.

Grey: “over here”.

Mark just looked at her

Grey: “come on, just run and I’ll pull you up”.

98-99-100% results came out of the analyzer, the infected breaked the glass and jumped in, Mark ran and took the result, he jumped in the vent and Grey helped him up.
Grey torched the infected before closing the vent shaft.

Mark: “how did you do that”.

Grey: “ill explain later”.

Mark: “can I have a sample of your blood later”.

Grey: “no”

When they got up the roof top, the chopper was already waiting for them and the other soldiers are holding off the infected that is trying to get up the roof.
Lieutenant: “get in the chopper”.
Mark: “but how about you?”.
Lieutenant: “your more important so get in, we will follow you later there will be another chopper to pick us up so go!”.

The chopper leaved Mark and Grey watched from above how the soldiers got swarmed by the infected.

Mark checked the result: “parasite?, So that’s why they’re acting like that. But how did it get in to them.

Bing: “Maybe the beer they are drinking a few hours ago”.

Mark: “what kind of beer”.

Bing gave him a bottle of beer: “that’s the last of it”.

Mark: “its only half”.

Bing B.: “I drank the half”.

Tord pointed a gun on his head: “shall I kill this one before he turns”.

Mark: “no… I need him”.

They’re chopper landed on the VD-warship, a ship that is 2 kilometers in length, half kilometer wide, and it is used as evacuation center for Von. It’s complete from all the weapons from air to water yet this is not the biggest ship in the Overworld.

For now only Grasslands was invaded by the infected and the other countries and continents near it gives maximum security at their airports, ships and underground trains that connects to every continent.





Stone waked up Stokey is not in bed, he knocked at the mother’s door, it was left opened but no one’s inside.
He smell someone’s cooking, he go downstairs and there he found the three having breakfast, the mother was cooking for them. She served Stone sunny side eggs and a toasted breads.
The mother told Stone that there’s a news that the last ship going to VD-warship is leaving tommorow so they have to get there as soon as possible.

Stone: “we need a car that can stand a mob of crazy people”.

Mother: “the bus outside can be, all we need is to make it work”.

Stone looked at the bus outside, he checked the engine, it looks fine.
The key is still intact, he started the bus and it worked.
They gathered everything that can be useful, Stone breaked all the lightbulbs of the bus.
He run back to the apartment and ripped the couches with a knife, get grabbed the foam and he patched the foam to the inside of the bus by using duct tapes.
He grabbed some thin cloths and with the help of the others they patched the cloths to every window of the bus.
Stone found a carpet and he put it in the driver’s wind shield and scrolled it upward then taped it.
Stone grabbed a magnifying glass and attached the lens to the flashlight.
It noontime when they left with enough amount of supplies, they encountered a lot of flipped, turned over and crashed cars that blocked their way so Stokey pushed them away.
They stopped at a gas station to get cans of five infected was there but Stokey manage to take them down
Stokey refueled the bus but before they left Stokey tooked the cash register and brought it inside the bus.

Stone: “what the hell are you going to do with that… do you think that money has a value at this kind of situation?”.

Stokey: “at the end of this plague…yes!!!”

Stone: “Alright fine, I guess that’s your reward for helping us… Get in”.

According to their map they are only 1500 miles away from the port.
Midnight and Stone is driving, he is falling a sleep, he lost control of the wheel and the bus almost hit the gutter.
Stokey replaced him as he rest.
Moments later, Stokey stopped the bus, she turned off the headlights and scrolled down the carpet on the windshield.

Stone waked up: “are we here”.

Stokey: “shhhh!!, There’s infected everywhere”

The mother got awaked, Stone covered her mouth.
They listened to the walking feet’s around them the sounds of the infected frightens the mother, as they pass by they made scratching sounds on the sides of the bus.
Later all of them are finally gone so Stokey started the bus again and drived.
Stone peeked at the window, he saw the sun is rising.
They heard something moving on the roof so they stopped the bus.
Stokey gone outside while stones guards the door with a shotgun.
Stokey jumped on the roof and caught someone wearing a hooded jacket, she go down holding the stranger with a jacket.
Stone aimed his gun at him: “who are you, are you infected”.

The stranger took of his hood to reveal his identity.

Stone put down his gun: “David!”
Stokey let go of him and she turned back covering her face

David looked at her: “It alright, I’m not afraid of you Stokey”.

Stokey turned around, David is looking at him like it was his first time to see her again.

Stokey: “you’d never been scared of me”

The two are looking at each other’s eyes that makes Stone wonder.

Stone: “PDA time is over, get in the bus or you two will be left here”.

They climbed back into the bus, David sit right next to Stokey and asked her why the police guy is so inclement, Stokey answered him loudly: “because he will die alone”.

The little girl get of her seat and tell Stone she was hungry so Stone gave her a can of corn beef

Little girl: “Mr. how do I open it”

Stone: “finally you called me correctly”

Little girl: “mommy told me”

Stone: “well mommy is a good teacher, just ask Stokey to open it for you”

The little girl gave the can to Stokey, Stokey opened it for her with her claws, the little girl is widely looking at the can while Stokey opens it

Stokey: “here ya go”

Little girl: “thank you”

Stone just drived while nodding his head.
They reached the port, the military inspected them for any signs of infection, they are clear.
They stayed for a while eating lunch before riding the ship
They ride the ship to the VS-warship.
